gestep48 1 Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 If I wanted to set up my IP cameras using STRM files, what content type should I use? Thanks Gene
Carlo 4561 Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Hi, instead of doing that, why not use the IPTV plugin and input the specific URL of the camera in that. This is what a lot of us do. 2
gestep48 1 Posted September 21, 2020 Author Posted September 21, 2020 Cayars I tried that and it works perfectly! Thanks Gene
Carlo 4561 Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 Nice, Don't forget about access rights you can give/revoke to the plugin so you can control what users if any you want to have access to your cameras!
gestep48 1 Posted September 21, 2020 Author Posted September 21, 2020 Got it. Thanks for the advice. Gene
pwhodges 2012 Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 I have strm files for ip cameras in a movie library, which works fine for me. Paul
gestep48 1 Posted September 22, 2020 Author Posted September 22, 2020 Thanks Paul. I had already tried that and it took 10-15 seconds to get a picture. When I used IPTV, it was down to 5 seconds to show an image. Gene
Carlo 4561 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Different pipeline is used in IPTV which is why I recommended this. Been there done this before.
pwhodges 2012 Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Yes, I'd noticed the difference in speed. It didn't matter to me (I'm monitoring the temperature of a pottery kiln), and it just happens to suit me better to have it in an existing library. Paul
