GregMo 24 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Not sure if I've missed a setting or some such but when I go into a playlist and click to play all over DLNA the first one that comes up is maybe 10th one in the playlist. Clicking next a few times will have it jump all around the playlist with no particular order. I'm speculating that this is controlled on the server side? Doesn't DLNA just send a video stream for the client to display?
Carlo 4561 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Hi, how exactly did you play a playlist to a DLNA device? Can you give the steps you've taken to do this? Thanks
GregMo 24 Posted September 16, 2020 Author Posted September 16, 2020 Just clicked on the client to cast to and then clicked "Play All".
Carlo 4561 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Hmm, I just tried it exactly like that and it started playing "Angels & Demons" which is the first file in my playlist. Then from my desktop I clicked the NEXT FILE and it went to the next on my list and so forth through the first 5 videos in my playlist. Are you sure you didn't click SHUFFLE button by mistake?
GregMo 24 Posted September 16, 2020 Author Posted September 16, 2020 Positive. Tried it a few times to different devices. I believe if you start it playing before you chose the client it will play correctly, but not so when choosing the client first, or at least it seems to work that way here.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 So without choosing a client but just using play all directly in the browser it handles the order correct for you?
Luke 42083 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Is it ordering them alphabetical by name, by any chance?

Yes, playing on the web apps plays in the correct order. Playing on the Roku also plays in the correct order. 11 hours ago, Luke said: Is it ordering them alphabetical by name, by any chance? Hrmmm, seems that's exactly what it's doing, alpha by episode title.
GregMo 24 Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 And with further testing, when you click play-all before selecting the client, it does play the first title that you start before selecting the client, but when that title ends, instead of playing the next item in the list, it plays the next episode of the the first title.
GregMo 24 Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 Funnier still, if you choose the client and then just click on a single title it will play it and then play the next one on the list, exactly as it should do with play-all. Whatever is done, just don't break this, lol. 1
Luke 42083 Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 I'm pushing out an update to the Dlna plugin. Please let me know if this resolves the sorting for you. Thanks. 1

Thanks. I've only just started using DLNA. Playing to a Yamaha RX-V675 AVR from Emby v 4.5.1.0 on an Odroid C2 and it's playing audio tracks alphabetically when I try to play an album for me too.

Luke 42083 Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Ok we're looking into it. Thanks for reporting.
