Luke 42080 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Hi, do you have two chromecast devices with the same display name?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 There are actually several topics on the same named device issue (all appear to be ChromeCast) as both devices are named "Family Room TV". https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/83008-chromecast-dashboard-activity-issue/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/72760-two-remote-devices-with-same-name-rotating-on-dashboard/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/64323-duplicate-chromecast-device-name-issue
Brendon 119 Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 I did think of that but they are in 2 completely different locations (aka cities) so thought an IP identifier or something would separate them. Both of those accounts had been used together before and had not noticed that happening, i also have 2 shields in same house/same network and named the same that don't do that so i brushed the name format aside when i though of it.
Luke 42080 Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 It's not about the location, only the name.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Any chance we could use a combination of Name, IP and version to differentiate these differences? I see this with devices using default names, named the same or even goofier results when you have the one device with two apps installed like Android Mobile and Android ATV. The version number keeps changing for both devices based on the last contact from either app. Stopping or even sending a message is interesting.
