TCEmby1 8 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Most of my movies have a subtitle file right next to the movie. However often I have to use the plugin to load subtitles and sometimes there is nothing that is hash matched like the file that comes with the movie. How can I select the actual subtitle file next to the movie file when turning on subtitles? Thanks
Luke 42086 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Hi there, have you explored the subtitle controls during video playback?
TCEmby1 8 Posted September 14, 2020 Author Posted September 14, 2020 During playback there are only subtitle options if I've downloaded them in the title screen before playing the movie. I use the plugin to download subs. It seems to not look into the folder that has the actual movie file for subs
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Are the subs and movie files named properly? For example, I have: \\<SERVER>\<SHARE>\Be Cool (2005)\Be Cool (2005).mkv \\<SERVER>\<SHARE>\Be Cool (2005)\Be Cool (2005).eng.srt 1
TCEmby1 8 Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 They might not be exactly like that. So if thats the issue I can fix any naming differences in the future to '.eng.srt' They are all srt files.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Hi, can you show us what you're looks like?
Happy2Play 9785 Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Also do they appear in the media info section of specific item in the web client?
TCEmby1 8 Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 As I receive them, the subs are either in a /subs folder or at the same level as the movie.
TCEmby1 8 Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 (edited) It looks like the subs where I'm having problems are slightly differently named: Edited September 15, 2020 by TCEmby1
Carlo 4561 Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Yep, rename them and they should work. You may want to give Filebot a try as it's great for renaming files, subs and other things correctly.
Luke 42086 Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Have you compared your subtitle naming to our subtitle naming guidelines? https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159160-subtitles
