Multi Episode single video files - "missing" episodes

Following on from my last email, i'm trying to sort my TV show episodes out properly.  I'm almost there, but keep running into problems with episodes where 2 or more are in a single file.  

They are being names under the format <show name> - S0xE0yE0z - Episode name.mkv

When i transfer the files across, for some reason they are being detected as multi-episode files, but ALSO as a missing episode (i.e. episode 2 shows as missing, despite being detailed under episode 1, episode 2).  if i go into the "missing" episodes, I can use the "split versions" option, which seems to work sometimes.  other times, I remove the episodes file, update the metadata for the "missing" episodes with the correct metadata for the second episode and then copy the file back and scan library.  a lot of the time this fixes it.  BUT for some reason it sometimes resets the episode details back to "Episode x" with no data and takes 3 attempts at inputting the metadata again before it shows - quite painful!

Using this method i have got pretty much every other episode in place - except for one.  it simply refuses to play ball and keeps shows as a "missing" episode under the multi-episode file above.

 

Any suggestions why this would be happening and how to remedy?  I would prefer not to turn off the missing episode detection (and have worked round my last problem of using TVDB).

Can you provide a few actual file names so we can see exactly what you have and try to duplicate it for you?

This would suggest just like all the other topics a defect in some systems with this feature that is somewhat more hassle then it is worth.  Your library scan did not properly remove the virtual item and would appear to have attempted to merge, I am guessing with the multi-episode file.  

If you disabled ""Display missing episodes within seasons" via User icon-Display every appears correctly right?

Things like this can be hard to reproduce as we do not have the exact steps.  But I would guess you have Miss enabled on Library and user and were adding this dual episode to items that were already missing?

Did you enable the missing episodes feature for your tv library?

Do you save metadata with media or is this database only metadata?
