I'm having the same WOL issues, i have a WOL app that i can use from the same media PC i use to watch content that wakes the server. does the WOL use the MAC address in emby? it doesn't ask for it anywhere or display it in the server set up. that's what the WOL app uses, strangely my android phone app works fine?

This topic is actually not necessarily about WOL. @Happy2Play will move your posting into it's own separate topic. Thanks.

Hi,

I can assist you guys if needed just send me a PM and link back to this thread so I know what it's in reference to.

I do have a question for you guys.  Is the device you're using connected via Ethernet or Wifi?

WoL (Wake on LAN) doesn't work via WiFi  In that case WoWLAN (Wake on Wireless LAN) is needed.

@Luke do our apps support WoWLAN?

I'm connected ethernet. WOL has been working perfectly via the Windows theater app until about a week ago (maybe two). I have a separate app that will wake the server via magic packet. The android app *was waking my pc. Now the option doesn't show? Do you want server logs? It's been a while since I've had an issue tbh. Apps>local>roaming?

Hi,

If you download a standalone WOL type app for your computer and phone do they work?

The standalone app works fine from the same pc (media center) as the emby theater app (that now won't wake the server)

My emby android app was waking the server via WiFi but now the option doesn't show.

I don't have a standalone app on the phone as its not really needed

Still not working.. Anyone any ideas?

Is there anything odd about your network setup? it sounds like the server couldn't determine your wake on lan info.

You can also try this, put this url in a browser on the server machine:

http://localhost:8096/system/wakeonlaninfo?api_key=

You'll need to add an api key to the end of that url, which you can create in the server dashboard in the api keys section. What do you get for a response?

I've just created an api key and it won't allow me to copy and paste it in edge or chrome is that normal behaviour? Because typing that out is a massive pita..

It says local host refused to connect from the media playing pc. It says access token is invalid or expired from the server browser.. I have got network switches, but everything is ethernet. I've just noticed I can't use local host in chrome I have to put the servers ip address in to manage emby in browser..

Did you add the api_key value to the end of the url like I mentioned?

And what was the url?

I got the two responses mentioned earlier. * local host refused to connect from the media playing pc. It says access token is invalid or expired from the server browser

I didn't get a url?

I gave you the url earlier with instructions. Did you follow those?

I created an api key in the server..

I also added it to the end of the url..

And I got the two responses stated earlier.

I will do it again and report back. I'll go in the loft and do it on the actual server as I was remoting in.

And what was the full resulting url?

So.. I get two mac addresses one of which is right for the server. The other I'm not sure what it is? Both have the same broadcast address and port..
