The Governor 1 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Hi all, I was just wondering if I'm doing something wrong here, when I play any of my movies with external SRT subs, they don't display. The files are fine because they play fine through XBMC. I'm running Version 3.0.5271.29451 and I've uploaded my transcode logfile in case it helps... transcode-016e8bdc-486d-42f4-8794-aae49682d562.txt
Luke 42078 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 If you're on 5271 you should get on the latest version first, as a lot of subtitle work has been done recently.
The Governor 1 Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 Okay cool, I'll give that a bash Luke
The Governor 1 Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) Just updated, but when I try to play the same film, for some reason it won't play (it was playing prior to the update, albeit not displaying subs)transcode-83a7ecb1-4ad2-4407-831a-f0e063dfd3be.txt. I then picked a different film which did play (both the same file format, both with external SRT file). I had a look at the transcode file and it says "Only text based subtitles are currently supported"? ALso, when I open the subtitles option, I see either "None" or a blank option, where I'd assume it wold say "English"... Edited July 20, 2014 by The Governor
Luke 42078 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 oh i see, these are actually .sub files. we currently recognize them for MBT but we really haven't tested them at all when transcoding them through the server. i'll have to look at them
The Governor 1 Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) Thanks Luke, Sorry you're right, for White House Down they're .sub My mistake Edited July 20, 2014 by The Governor
Luke 42078 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 what does the web client detail page list as the codec for the .sub file?
The Governor 1 Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 This is what it says Luke: Subtitle Codec SUB Default No Forced No External Yes As it happens, it now seems like the movie won't play at all since the upgrade, I'll do a bit of testing, but it seems like if I select the "blank" subtitle option, it won't play (at least on the few files I've tried). I just tried one file (an AVI with SRT subs) and it started to load, then sat there for a little while and then went back to the movie detail page, and I noticed it didn't create a transcode file either, so not sure what that's about...
