Donny Bahama 1 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 I'm thinking about setting up an Emby server running in a Docker container on an Odroid HC2 (ARM Cortex-A15 2Ghz + Cortex-A7 Octa core CPU with 2GB of DDR3 RAM). Obviously not a lot of horsepower plus there's NO GPU and minimal RAM so I'm worried about transcoding issues. My intended streaming device is a Roku Ultra connected to a 1080P plasma TV. Most of my recordings are Blu-ray rips although I have an almost equal number of DVD rips. Assuming I'm willing to rerip all my discs, are there particular settings (i.e. Handbrake) that will minimize (maybe even eliminate) transcoding? And what if I want to watch something remotely on my iPhone or an iPad? Are there settings I can choose on the iOS device (or on the server) to minimize/eliminate transcoding?
Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Hi, You should be good all around if you rip to MP4, use H.264 video codec and make sure to include a 2 channel AAC audio track (and any other audio tracks after this). 1
