Stargate01 0 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Hi. I am a new user and I am giving Emby a try. If I pay for the app unlock, will I be able to use that unlocked app in 3 devices (fire tv sticks) at my home? Will it be a single $4,99 payment or do I have to pay for each device? If I am not wrong, it would be a single $4.99 payment since all those 3 devices will use the same account. Can anyone confirm or let me know. Thanks.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Hi, If you setup all 3 devices with the same account then you should be able to pay on one device, then unlock the other two devices. So yes, as long as these are under the same account you can unlock all three for just the "$4.99" or whatever the cost is. Hope that helps, Carlo

Or anything about Unlocking apps?
Carlo 4561 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 I don't believe there is much information about clients in general in the knowledge base as it's mostly focused on server features. This is something I'm starting to work on to expand (client side). I'll make sure to document this as well as to make sure there is a clear understanding of the different app stores and programs and how the purchase effects the app. IE Amazon purchase different than Google Play store app. Android Mobile different from Android TV. But that you can unlock all same app types from the same store if using the same account. 1
Luke 42078 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 With Emby Premiere you can unlock all of your devices rather than having to purchase unlocks for each individually. 1

In my case the app would be installed in 3 Amazon Fire Tv sticks, an LG smart TV, and maybe on my Android phone. Sharing the same account and user, would there be any issues having the app on 2 different operating systems: Android and WebOS (Fire Tv uses Android without Play Store). Does it matter which device I use to unlock the app? In my initial post I said 3 devices because I forgot other ones, but I guess it's relevant. Thanks.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 If you pay for the Amazon Fire TV Stick you can only unlock other Fire TV Sticks with that account through Amazon. This would NOT unlock the Android phone which would go through Google Play store. LG Smart TV doesn't need unlocking. So you would be looking at two different unlocks/purchases at the app level or you could go with an Emby Premiere license which would unlock up to 25 different devices including all Premiere features such as syncing/offline viewing, Live TV, etc

We can add it in somewhere but this behaves just like any other store purchase in any other app. It is associated with the store account. Of course, I second the suggestion for Emby Premiere as it unlocks everything.
Vivecstel 1 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Hello, I unlocked device emby on android tv box (living room device) and in bedroom where I have chromecast with google tv it is still locked. Is this a bug ? or it supposed to work like this ? Shouldn't it one device unlock to work on both devices ? Note that I am using same gmail account on both devices and using local synology. Thanks,

Thanks, Hi. Did you try the "Restore Unlock" button?
Vivecstel 1 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Yes. And i get the toast message: Unlock not purchased.
Carlo 4561 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Are you logged in with the same store username? Is this the same exact app you are trying to restore? You can mix and match from Fire TV to Android TV or Android TV to Android Mobile as they are different.
Vivecstel 1 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 As I said above. Same gmail on both devices. Synology emby home server. Bought it on android tv box (purschase visible on play store). On google tv chromecast I get the above error. Shouldn't this work ? Is there a bug on the android version ? Are you using play store to restore the purchase ? Or not?
Carlo 4561 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Yes both should use the Google Playstore. Which android box did you purchase it for? Can you PM a copy of receipt for it? I just want to check/look at the info on it and see if anything sticks out as a problem.
ebr 16182 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Also, how recent was the purchase? We had one other user who had this issue and it cleared itself up after about 24 hours - as if the Play store is not updating account access in real time across the devices.
Vivecstel 1 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 @cayars I send you a PM with the information. @ebr The purchase was at 27 January. It is more than 24 hours.
ebr 16182 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Hi. Can you try uninstalling the app on the Chromecast and then re-installing it? The app checks for the purchase on first install so maybe that will work.
Vivecstel 1 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 This worked. The weird thing I tried this before but I don't remember if it was before the first 24 hours or after. Thanks 1

I own a Zidoo device and can't unlock the app on the device as there is no GPay available (I am getting the "Billing Service Not Available" error). So, I installed the Android TV app on my mobile, logged in to the same account that I am using on Zidoo (same NAS etc.) and unlocked the app on my mobile. But, on Zidoo I can still see trial. I don't need the mobile app, I installed it only to unlock the one on Zidoo with the same account. Can someone help please? Przemyslaw
Carlo 4561 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 Hi, it sounds like the Zidoo doesn't use a conventional store that will allow it to be unlocked. The only real solution I see to unlock the Zidoo is by going to Emby Premiere as that unlocks all client apps including the Premiere reserved apps.
przemm82 3 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 There is a way to install Google apps on Zidoo. If I do that, will the system recognize the registration on my mobile? I read this part, paid and I wouldn't want to lose money as the android tv app that I installed on my mobile cannot be used as a replacement. If you setup all 3 devices with the same account then you should be able to pay on one device, then unlock the other two devices.
Carlo 4561 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 If you can get the Zidoo running from the Google store there is a very good chance it will work.
przemm82 3 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 Thank you very much! I can confirm that it worked! 2
