Solution Richard Branches 330 Posted August 29, 2020 Author Solution Posted August 29, 2020 Alright people, don't be alarmed! Removing the folder -> re-scanning the library -> adding the folder again -> re-scanning the library fixed the problem: I did the same with the other TV shows I was having the problem and they are displaying correctly now. At least we have learned that re-scanning the library is not working properly, I had to move the folders to another location to be able to verify if the problem was corrected. I hope Emby devs take a look at that... Thank you all for helping me out. Have a wonderful weekend.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 (edited) My guess is a metadata provider glitch as the only way I could get embedded title to be used as disabling all providers, but enabling a doing a Refresh on the item got and used provider name. Edited August 29, 2020 by Happy2Play
Carlo 4561 Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 To me this has been working correctly all along. You changed the option "Prefer embedded titles over filenames" but never did the "dance" of removing the files, scanning, adding back and scanning again so the option never took affect for those files. But I'm still curious, why did you rename you videos the same as the codec type internally? I still can't figure out why you did that???

Carlo 4561 Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Something was changed or you would have gotten the same results. Could be a change to metadata providers or reorder or anything like that.

You should of seen something in the LOG then as this is metadata related. As the only way to make it happen is to stop metadata providers.

I didn't renamed anything, I just add the label to the video stream so it is correctly identified in the movie/TV show description like this: In order to be displayed like this I selected the "Preffer embeded titles " in the "Embedded track title display" menu in the advanced tab of library section.

So you edited the file and changed the name?

I would say that maybe that mishap happened because the other day, I re-scanned the library before I connected the external hard disk where I have all the files, otherwise I honestly don't know what could be the reason.
Richard Branches 330 Posted August 29, 2020 Author Posted August 29, 2020 4 minutes ago, cayars said: So you edited the file and changed the name? No, the file name has always been untouched, what I did was to remove the label from within the file using the header editor of MKVToolinx.
Carlo 4561 Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Well that will do it. That's what we are saying, something changed and removing the embedded title will most certainly help fix it.

I removed the label to test it, since that didn't work I re-added the label again, since that didn't work either, the only solution was to move the folder to a temporary location, re-scan the library to remove the items from the database, move the folder again to where it was initially, re-scan the library one more time and that's what fixed the issue.
