Emby does not use images from folder level for Artist.  That image is only used in Folder View.

There is no way to stop Artists from being downloaded.

After I finished cleaning up some files I went and deleted my test library and created a new music library with my whole collection. 

As of right now all artists have been correctly identified with no duplicates.  I'll report back tomorrow - hopefully no issues!

Update: All artists seem to have been scanned correctly. No duplicate artists like when I used MusicBrainz or AudioDB plugins.  Just an FYI about these plugins I tested twice using each one and both times they made a mess of my files. 

There are some albums that are not having the album art detected even though they are tagged. 

What info do you need to investigate this further and I'll provide when I get home from work later today

So I've been at work the past few hours - haven't touched a thing -  the only change is the few albums that were not showing the covers have miraculously appeared!   

There are no pictures for the Artists, but that's not even a big deal right now. 

My biggest concern was Emby being able to read my tags and not display it's own information based on what it finds on the internet. This is something I cannot do with Plex.   

If anyone has read this far and you are having problems with multi artists and tags not being read correctly:

First and foremost make sure your tags are correct! 

Second: I removed both MusicBrainz and AudioDB plugins. I did separate tests with both and each time had issues with duplicates. 

Third: Go back a few posts and follow the work around directions

 

PS - Emby also picked up my home videos (webinars from school) and correctly read the details from the .nfo file on the first scan. Something Plex can't do (even the plugin is flaky).
