Dragon777 2 Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 (edited) Hello, I am new to Emby, which is installed on my QNAP TS-453D NAS. I would like to cast all my media to my Oppo blu-ray player and I am experiencing a lot of problems doing so. Mentioned some of them on my other thread about playing concerts with menu/chapters, but would like to consolidate them here as this seems to be a different issue altogether. So here is what I am experiencing. It´s the same with all kinds of files I have, be it movies, concersts, series or whatever. When casting media to my Oppo blu-ray player, the following things happen: Track is not starting with the subtitles and audio channel which I selected in the Emby app before hitting play. Once I change anything during playback, e.g. switching the audio channel, the subtitle langague, hitting the 10 seconds forward button or selecting a different chappter, the stream stops casting alltogether. The Emby app looks like the media is still playing, but the Oppo stops playing. I can then not end the stream on the Emby app by pressing "stop". It just won´t react anymore to my input. When I try to change subtitles on my Oppo instead of the Emby app, the stream will not stop, but something very strange happens: When I select the first available subtitles in the list, no sobtitles will be shown. It´s selected according to the Oppo menu, but it will not show up. It will work for other subtitles further down the list, though, but not for the first one. So if the file has only one set of subtitles, you are not able to display subtitles at all. When I play the same file through my Oppo directly, without Emby, everything works flawlessly. When I start playing a movie from a chapter, e.g. selecting chapter 3 and play, the stream on the Oppo will first start from the beginning of the movie for a couple of seconds and only then jump to the selected chapter 3. When playing larger 4k files, it takes about 2 minutes before the stream starts on the Oppo when I cast it through Emby. It also puts some load on the CPU of my NAS, for whatever reason. Playing the same file on the Oppo directly starts it instantly and the NAS CPU doesn´t even bother. Thes are the major issues up to date. Honestly, the experience is so bad, it´s a show stopper for me. I really like the Emby interface, but I need it to be able to cast to my Oppo without problems. Is anybody experiencing similar problems? Btw, I have no playback problems whatsoever when I use the BubbleUPnP app to access the Emby libraries and cast to the Oppo. But then Bubble doesn´t give me a usable interface for movies, series etc.. But it´s my favorite app for music. Best D Edited August 23, 2020 by Dragon777
Luke 42081 Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Hi, beyond basic playback of starting a stream we haven't quite given dlna playback as much attention as our own emby apps. We'll need to set aside some time to improve this. Thanks for the feedback.
Dragon777 2 Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 Ok, that´s a pity as DLNA casting is the main argument for me to use Emby (versus Plex e.g.). But good to hear that you plan on improving the feature. Is there any kind of timeline on the horizon for this?
Luke 42081 Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 No eta but it's something we can improve with each new release. Thanks.
