iceridge 0 Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 I have set up a windows pc as my emby server try to use the power it has to encode some media files. my pc is running a 3900x and a 5700xt. The playback on browsers and emby theater works fine and they take advantage of my hardware, however if i try on ios devices and macbook using emby's client, it seems to be laggy and not taking the advantage of my pc. I have tried on andriod tv also but it still not taking advangtage of my pc even though the playback was pretty smooth. Im suspecting that they are using the client's cpu power to encode/decode the media which results in the low performance, so im curious is there any settings that i can fix so that i can do all the encoding/decoding on my server pc and just stream from my client devices. Another thing that i want to know is that i just subscribe to emby premiere and it says that i has 25 device limit, this 25 means 25 device active at one time or can only sign in to 25 device in total, if im changing phone, will the old phone take up one device count?
Sammy 790 Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/folders/44000903016 For your second question it is 25 devices at any given moment.

It is total devices over the period of a week not a simultaneous limit. If it were simultaneous, we would set it much lower as we're designed as a single-family personal server. Many answers can be found in our Knowledge Base. Thanks. Is there a limit to Emby Premiere
Carlo 4561 Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Keep in mind this is devices using Premiere features so refer to the KB Matrix. Keep in mind you aren't locked to the same 25 devices. They can come and go but take about a week to drop off. So if you used you're neighbors tablet to watch TV from your server it would use up a license but then get removed about a week later. 25 licenses should be plenty for a normal family a few friends.
