Library folder issues TV shows

Recommended Posts

This issue happened over night and i have not changed any setting  (that i know of)

i have a folder structure: RECORDED SHOWS> TV >  SHOW NAME  > SEASON # , this is inline with the suggestions i have found on here and it was working as i

The library was working fine the night before, but now EMBY sees the  TV folder as the show name and the SHOW NAME folders as seasons of the TV (show title). which means all the shows and episodes are intermingled and i can't watch anything

i have gone in an done everything think i can, removed meta data, removed the library, added the library as different content types, deleted the nfo from the TV folder, and reset the computer/restarted EMBY server multiple times.

Does anyone know why this might have happened?

Thanks

Hi,

Can you show a picture of what it looks like now?

That might be really helpful!

Thanks

picture 1 shows the main folder, you can see the TV folder doesn't have the little folder icon in the top left.

Picture 2 is the TV folder where down the bottom you can see series that it thinks are seasons

Picture 3 is in the 30 rock folder where it has no ideas that this folder has sub folders with season 1-7 which contain the episodes for each season, instead it just lists all the episodes down the page

Hopefully this is just an easy fix for something basic i did wrong

Hi,

What happens when you use Identify for each series.  Try that with 30 Rock and let it replace graphics.

How many emby libraries do you have? Can you show us your emby library setup? Thanks.

I would want to see the content in TV folder just by what is displaying in the next up row.  I would guess loose episodes making TV a Series.

Not too many i think. the only one that is giving me issues is the Videos library, bottom right. it has 2 main folders in it, kids video and my video. in my video i have a few sub folders.

To identify 30 rock, i could only use TVDB id. i did that then refreshed the data. all it did was change the picture of "Black tie" to the same picture as "The head and the hair, both of them are season 1 episodes and now they both have the same season 1 picture.

Bottom right, the "Video folder". i have deleted that library many times since this has happened, and changed it content from mixed (it also has a few movies in there)  to TV to movies to home videos and photos. and now it is back to mixed. none of the other content types worked. removed the .nfo file from the TV folder, reset the meta data...

If TV content type does not work for your tv media - then as Cayars implied your naming convention/structure is off

Setup a TV Library pointing to a fresh location.  Do nothing with it yet.

Now show up (take a screenshot) of what you TV shows look like on disc.  Are you following the naming convention from our knowledge base?

Hi, the naming convention is correct, i have just moved the 30 rock folder into a new TV folder (within the Video library) and it appears as it should. i then copied all of my folders over and it went back to what you see above. so now i am going to move stuff folder by folder to try and find out which folder is causing me the issues,

This would suggest the content of the folder.  Are there any loose items in the parent folder?  Is every item in their own Series folder?

Since this is Mixed Content library type a single item will change the detected content type.

I'd not personally used mixed library if this is in fact going to be TV Shows.  It's always best to choose a library that matches the content best.

I've narrowed it down. i split all the shows up into folders and found out the problem lies in folder 7. after the library scan finished folder 7 changed from just saying TV7 to CFJC Tv, this is not something i have ever recorded or watched. I'll share the results once i find exactly what went wrong.

But what is this naming structure you're using?  You said earlier I thought you were using the naming convention of what the knowledge base shows.

https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159110-tv-naming

The above based on your pictures is not what the knowledge base shows.

Can you show a picture of you disc setup for a series or two?

Here you go:

E:\video\tv\30 Rock\Season 1\30 Rock - s01e17 - The Fighting Irish.mp4

Same as the examples on the page you linked
\TV
    \Glee (2009)
       \Season 1
          Glee S01E01.mp4

show name - S01E01 - Episode Name.ext

Sorry but say your tv7 folder is not in that structure, but in theory should fall under this but we do not know your structure or content within those folders.

 \TV
     \A-M
        \Glee (2009)
           \Season 1
              Glee S01E01.mp4

i found the folder causing issues, it had another folder inside and an .nfo inside that folder and that's all. i deleted the folder off the network drive and can't recover it so i can;t figure out what was in the nfo.

Thanks for the help.
