Emby unlocked app no longer works

It was originally purchased on an Amazon Firestick and then appeared to carry over with no issues to the Android TV which it has been working on since November until now.

That was a bug in the Android TV as it wasn't expiring correctly as it should have.  But it didn't use you Amazon purchase as they are different stores just like Apple is different.

So effectively. Android, Android TV and Fire OS (which is a version of Android) all require separate unlocks correct?

Yes, but if you have multiple devices that are Amazon Firesticks and login to the device with the same email address then they can all be unlocked with that one purchase (for that platform).

So single purchase per platform but then it will work for for all devices I own on that platform that are logged into the same account. Grand.

When we got the new TV in November and did away with the Firestick I assumed as it was working I had a valid license. Thank you for the support and clearing things up. Will purchase a new unlock.

Hi. Hyper is correct.  The mobile app is a different unlock from the TV app.  This is one of the reasons we offer Premiere.  It unlocks everything.

This is why we offer Premiere - it unlocks everything.

If this is true, why did my FTV app require me to unlock after I had already purchased premiere? So now I'm paying monthly plus unlocking the app. I did log out of the app and back in again with same results after subscribing. Gave up and paid to unlock the app. The Amazon acct is different from the emby acct, but that shouldn't matter as it is logged in with the correct emby user.

True it unlocks everything. For my needs though Premiere is not cost effective.

£5pm versus a single payment of £5 per platform/account means I would need a lot of platforms/accounts to make it better value for money.

Hi, i use emby for 3 years in my 3 ftv's and i never paid something. Now, i installed my emby Server new on my Server 2 days ago. And now i have to pay for unlock? I installed an older apk and it works again without paying.

What do you changed? A Bad Playback and Handling on Playstation and now that. Great job. Its getting better and better with emby.

Nice you got 3 years of free playback, that's awesome! Now how about actually paying for the product as intended since you got so much out of it already?

So I have a family member that just got Emby for firestick..its saying device limit exceeded but its not giving her th option to buy the app one time...I really don’t understand why we cant just buy the app upfront..this is a real pain. What need to be don’t to get this resolved?

Oh what a Great comment. I payed a several times,  but the "ps4 emby app " is still a creepy mess. Thats why i had to change on the firetv stick. And my opinion is that emby was free on the tv stick. Till now and the change to Premium like plex. When they change to a good ps4 app i will pay again.

If you paid several times then you just need to unlock the app again by restoring the purchase.

 

You can thank sony for the bad support on the PS4, they are super unfriendly to small app developers. The cost is insane and emby would never recoup the cost.

Pay for the app people, you can only get so far in life being a mooch.

Also mentioned a couple times already in this thread.  Simply remove your Premiere key from your server for just long enough to start the app and you can purchase the unlock.  This is only necessary if connecting to a Premiere server and wishing to avoid the device limit for that device.  Also, the beta app allows direct purchase.  Both stores have the beta in review but are moving at their glacial pace these days.

when removing the premiere key, will my coverart covers be deleted immediately and all have to be recreated after I add the key again?

will the unlock work with a Google Play gift card or does one have to enter a “real” payment method like credit card?

Not unless you run a refresh replacing all images for your whole library.  The key literally only has to be removed for a couple seconds - just long enough to start the app.  However, the Google version that has the unlock option on it was released yesterday as well (still waiting on Fire).

New to all of this, so please forgive if I am in the wrong place.

I have been using emby mostly at home for a while now. everything was good, and I was under the impression that all my local devices would work with no problem. All of a sudden, my sony tv's with emby andriod app will not work. it says I have to buy premier.  I have no issue paying, but I can't find info as to which apps on which devices will work and which apps and devices still need extra payments beyond premier. I don't want to pay for premier and then find out that payment for individual devices are still needed.

 

Please help.

Hi.  From that article:

I always tell people to not worry about it until it becomes a problem because, if you are using the system for just your family and a few friends, you will be fine.
