Paid only now?

So I fired up my NVidia Shield and went into Emby to watch some of my recorded TV shows and everything I try to play says I have to pay for Premeire.  My server is Windows and my client is on NVidia Shield obviously.  What's up?

You probably just need to pay for the app on the Shield, about $5.00 I think. Paying for "Premiere"  would also unlock the app but is not really required. Buying a Premier license also unlocks many other features and more importantly supports Emby but you can just pay a one time fee for the app on the devices, like the Shield, that requires it.

Oh. Rereading what you said I see that you are using the DVR functionality and I believe that is a Premier only function of Emby.

Thanks for the reply but there is no way to pay for the app.  Plus it's telling me I need Emby Premiere in order to play anything not buy the app.

As I said in my edit to my post Emby does require Premier for DVR functionality.

I didn't mention I'm using the DVR but guess maybe could see why you would think that.  I'm just playing back some shows.  I record my TV SHows thru WMC and play them back thru Emby so no DVR.

DOn't take it personal but can tell you aren't sure about this with the app so yesterday I was able to watch videos with the AndroidTV app for Emby, now I can't.  Why?

 

By the way, music still works.

I do not know all the details of recent changes but the chart suggest that app requires app unlock/Premiere for playback.

You can watch any media you own but recording and playing back media is a Premier function. I am only a user like you and someone official from Emby may be by shortly to give an official answer but I doubt it will be much different from min.

If I remember correctly DVR was free to use for a while when it was still under development but it recently moved to being a Premier perk.

Yeah it's a little weird.  Wish someone knew the AndroidTV version of this and how it works.  First I can't see where I would unlock the app, and second it's worked for a while and now suddently today stops.  I don't mind paying for a subscription or whatever, but don't like just a random stopped working out of the blue and haven't changed anything.  Even removed and installed the app again and nothing.

Dude, appreciate your input but think your off base but maybe I'm misreading.  I do not use the DVR, never did.  I am trying to watch my own media always have been.  Not sure what media I'd be watching that wouldn't be my own that Premiere would allow but someone has to know why for the last unknown period of time the app has been working fine and now it's asking me to pay out of the blue.

I only paid for a Lifetime Premier for my Server. All clients to this server have full access to the DVR functions if I allow them to have it..

In your first post you said that you were watching media you had recorded. Recording is DVR and that is why I thought of DVR. I guess I cannot help so I am done with this thread.

Think it just a misunderstand as this is not a Emby DVR issue.  It is just a playback issue.  But the dev will have to comment on when this unlock playback happened for this app/client and how to.

Android TV has always required premiere or an app unlock to support playback, as far as I can recall.  I believe you get a trial period.  It used to be 14 days IIRC.

2 week trial then if switches back to free mode.  At that point you have to pay the one time app unlock fee or get an Emby Premiere which will unlock all your devices up to your license count.

The unlock option is on the home screen near the bottom. You can also wait for the trial to expire and then it will prompt you before playback.

Not a Android user but other topic suggest the bottom of Home screen.  Don't see exact image anywhere thought.

Looks like this is an issue in the app. I am unable to get the unlock too.
