I have a few questions based on a few different matters

 

1. Is there an easy way to transfer data from a windows laptop to a server running ubuntu server?

 

2. Is it illigal to host emby with Movies/TV

 

3. Can I Edit code to my standards to make it look more like Netflix or hulu

1. Above my pay grade but probably with some path edits.

2. What do you mean by "host" and what country are you in? 

3. Not on the current version but you can make some settings for home screen layout. Can you be more specific as to what "like Netflix" means?

emby is a server that you connect to.  point to the IP of the server locally and it works.  externally you'd port forward at the router to your internal server IP.  so yeah, it's a server.

If you're in the U.S. and you rip media to your server you have broken U.S. Copyright Law. If you're hosting to yourself you're probably not going to get into trouble but I'm no attorney. If you're hosting to others, especially if you're charging them money, all bets are off.
