aarbee 6 Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 (edited) I am having issues with disappearing show whenever I add the second season of Star Trek TOS. I roughly had a structure build of: Science Fiction Babylon 5 Star Trek Series and Movies 0 Fan Movies 1 Movies 2 Star Trek Enterprise Season 1 Season 2 Season 3 Season 4 3 empty 1 5 Star Trek Next Generation Season 1 Season 2 Season 3 Season 4 Season 5 Season 6 Season 7 6 Star Trek Deepspace 9 All seasons like NG 7 Star Trek Voyager All seasons like NG When ever I added in spot 4 or 3, Star Trek The Original Series And Star Trek the Animated Series, everything in the group Series and Movies goes missing. Why is that? I even did split Movies and Series in a differen top level, and as soon as I put TOS in the Structure everything in the group Star Trek series is missing. Si I decided to put things like in the Image 1, and the Group Star Trek Series gets emptied one by one (in Emby not in the Filestructure). And because I also had a copy on the same level as Star Trek Series, for TOS and anymated series, the button Series is missing, and suddenly visable under the button Star Trek The Animated series. Besides that, It renames the Shows. Star Trek The Original Series become Season 4. And Star Trek the Animated Series become Season 1. Why is that? Am I doing things wrong here? BTW Windows 10 Pro Emby version 4.4.3.0 Browser: Chrome, FireFox Type of Library: Mixed Edited August 1, 2020 by aarbee
Carlo 4561 Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 You would be better off not using MIXED but using MOVIES and TV SHOW libraries so there is no ambiguity in what is being scanned. This way you can also keep standardize you folder levels so all movies use the same number of folders as well as same depth of folders for TV Shows. This would help you avoid issues like this. Don't know if this will be of help or not but what I typically do helping others remotely with a situation like this is move the whole problem area out of the library and rescan it. Then I remove any xml or nfo files from the problem section before reintroducing them back into the library. What I see is a naming problem most likely and I'd change this. Filebot (filebot.net) is your best friend for things like this. Then I'll use clearly Identified folder names INCLUDING the year in the title of the series Star Trek Enterprise (2001), Star Trek The Next Generation (1989), Star Trek Deepspace 9 (1993), Star Trek Voyager (1995), Star Trek The Animated Series (1973) & Star Trek (1966) or Star Trek The Original Series (1966) Filebot will use this same naming convention for you files as well (don't need the year) so your files would be named like this: \Star Trek (1966)\Season 1\Star Trek - S01E01 - The Man Trap.mp4 \Star Trek Voyager (1995)\Season 1\Star Trek Voyager - S01E01 - Caretaker (1).mp4 \Star Trek Deep Space Nine (1993)\Season 1\Star Trek Deep Space Nine - S01E01 - Emissary (1).nfo \Star Trek Enterprise (2001)\Season 1\Star Trek Enterprise - S01E01 & 02 - Broken Bow.mp4 \Star Trek The Next Generation (1987)\Season 1\Star Trek The Next Generation - S01E01-E02 - Encounter at Farpoint.mp4 Typically I'll add just the first episode of the first season of each show to make sure it's identified correctly and Emby has no problems with it before I add additional files/seasons. BTW above naming for each could have also been "Star Trek, Voyager" with the comma as well if you prefer that. Try these tips and let us know how you make out.
aarbee 6 Posted August 1, 2020 Author Posted August 1, 2020 Thank you for taking your time, to answer my question. You write, you add the first episode and check for errors. The errors appeared after I added Season 1. Now I see that StarTrek is mixing up TOS and Animated, when I put everyting one Level up. I was afraid to get to many stuff on the mainpage. But I saw that I was also getting the issue With Documentaries. Below you can See that I did split the General Science Fiction up into 3 sections. I only have the issue with TOS. Sometimes I think, that an issue arrises when the directory structure is too deep. I am playing with Emby and Plex for some time, but now that I am filling it with my ripped DVD's I see the problems arising. Emby seems to have more in that regard then Plex. Plex has other issues too (in one of their features they want to know to much about what I am running on my media server. Not that it is illegal content, as all come from my own dvd and blue-ray, but they should not ask). RobB
