Some Movies Lagging

Hello,

I have an issue with some on my movies, 
the issue is that some of my movies are lagging while we play them on any device other than a PC. i tried to play on IOS and on ANDROID and on SMART TVS, the movie lags too much and we cannot watch it.
I checked the resource monitor of my emby server, all is normal, nothing is high. 
I have attached the details of 2 movies, one is very lagging and the other is playing very smoothly.

 

NB: I changed the emby server to a better performance server. ( i attached the specs of the emby server )
NB: I am playing both movies with CC OFF 

NB: If i decrease the quality of the movie that is lagging to less than 1080 ( ANY QUALITY 720 and less ) the video plays smoothly, while on other movies i can play up to 1080 60MBPS and the movie wont lag. 

NB: I AM NOT FACING ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS IF I PLAY FROM MY PC ( WEB ) 

I have Emby Premiere on my server activated. 
Emby server version : 4.4.3.0

Also emby app on all devices has the latest update installed.

Please can anyone help me with this issue ?

Holy Cow, I've got to say that was the most informative first post of a user I've seen in the forums asking for support!

Because of that I would pain me to do this:   

So instead I'll ask you to play both movies one after another and then upload the server log file which is explained in the above linked topic.  If there is any ffmpeg logs generated for these two files please upload them as well if you can or if you don't understand what we're asking for, let us now.

I really want to jump in and look at this but it's about 5 am my time and I'm exhausted and time for ZZZs. Was helping two other people remotely with way different time zones.

Adú (2020) isn't direct playing on any of those devices and is being transcoded while The Irishman is playing without transcoding.

Your graphics card is being identified as a NVIDIA GeForce 210 which is pretty old so to transcode it's changing back to software mode.

I'm puzzled looking at the speed of conversion.  The log shows it started out with speed=5.84x which means it's converting at roughly 6 times faster than needed, but it slowly gets slower and slower 4.85x, 3.32x, 2.31x, 1.56x, 1.05x, 0.952x, 0.643x, 0.329x, 0.282x which is less than 1/3 real time speed. That was down to converting 6.8 frames per second.

Could you in the web go to the detail screen for Adú, scroll down to the bottom and take a picture of the metadata overview and upload that.

I'm going to ask you try something.  In the Transcoding setup turn off Hardware GPU and also turn off Throttling (uncheck it).

Now try playing that file again and while playing back take a look at your web based DASHBOARD view and you'll see something like this:

That will show you what's going on during playback.  You can see in this view that Throttle is off and the position of transcode is ahead of playback.  You can see up top a green and red line as well showing both of these for a quick glance look.  You'll also see the "i" info icon showing in the red box.  If you click that icon it will tell you why it's transcoding.

So during playback take a shapshot of the above, click the info button and grab another picture and upload those as well.

Enable throttling : OFF

 

Why some movies isn't direct playing and is being transcoded while others is playing without transcodin ?? Is there a way to make all movies play without transcoding ? can i convert them in any way ? 

PS: I am an IT , i dont know anything about transcoding and media stuff...

That is surprising since it is direct playing.  Basically Emby is handing the file over to iOS to play it.

Do you have the ability to copy this movie to the iPhone and try playing it back directly on the iPhone?

Just a question, the movie's resolution is 1080p, if i downgrade the quality while watching to 720p 1MBPS, the movies works very well but it doesnt direct play, it transcodes. is this normal ?

Reason for transcoding:
Media bitrate exceeds limit.

From my iphone, its 100% clear with no lags at all; But from emby the same issue is still appearing.

Grabbing the file now but it's a very slow download.  So will do some testing with it later.

CC and subtitles on some clients will cause transcoding if the client can't use the format internally. 

For testing it's always a good idea to try both with and without the subs/CCs for diagnostic purposes.

This is a video i recorded from my iPhone. it shows how the video lags while playing on a high quality, but it works smoothly when i lower to 720p 1mbps. watch it till the end i changed the resolution at the end.

PS: ALL MOVIES THAT ARE LAGGING HAVE THE AUDIO TYPE : EAC3 5.1 
Does this matter ?

Are you having issues on any other client besides iOS with these files?

I don't have any Apple products, so I can't test.
