Does the current functionality in the Android TV app give you the basics you need?

As a further answer to this I tested the functionality on my Fire TV and I have to say that the Fire's implementation does NOT work as I would need. The"resume" shows on every title regardless of actual played state and those that really are partially played start from the beginning. That is the Fire app is as bad for audio books as the current implementation on the Roku.

I will watch for any change but, for now, Emby is just not the tool I need for audio book playback.

I tested libraries of both "Audio Books" and "Music" neither works as I need on any device I own.

I do wonder why this seems so hard to get right. There are numerous Android apps that play audio books just fine but none of my Android devices are suitable and I cannot find a good audio book player for the Fire TV or for the Roku and on a computer MediaMonkey is vastly superior to the current fare from Emby or Plex. I would like to use Emby for audio books as that would simplify my maintenance but, for now, it is not to be.

Emby cannot kowtow to my needs and I would not expect them to but they have met my needs, mostly, everywhere else it just seems that simple ff/rw/resume for audio on all devices is beyond what they can provide at this time.

@Happy2Play please move my posting to a new topic in the Android TV section. Thanks.

Can you please start a new thread in the Android TV forum with a specific example here?  The basics that you asked for should be there in the Fire app.

It's it not working at all correctly on my old Fire TV.

I will start a new thread when I have time.
