Twixter 4 Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 (edited) Since about 2-3 days now i've been having issues with emby randomly restarting the episode from the start when it's already 3-8 minutes in sometimes it even selects a new episode 1 time even from another season. Besides this it's also having problems playing the next episode most of the times i have to go back and manually select the episode to play next. The naming of the files is fine and all the metadeta i have comes from emby. Any suggestions to what could be causing this? embyserver.txt embyserver-63731404813.txt Edited July 30, 2020 by Twixter
Carlo 4561 Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 What client are you using when you see this happening? Have you tried a different client and if so is the problem there as well? Do you know a show you were watching that would be in the log? If you know a problem episode I'll take a look.

I've been using the browser to watch emby on my surface pro 3 i always watch my media on that, my sister has been watching on the nvidea shield app without any issues but she mostly just watches movies but the few times she did watch a show there was no issue. The serie that's currently having this issue is: everybody hates chris it's the only thing i've been watching myself for the last 2-3 days. I myself will try to do some tests on my phone using the emby app watching the same series and episode and see if i'm having the same issues. I will also play the files in potplayer from my mounted gdrive to see if there could possibly be any corrupt files.
Carlo 4561 Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 These are files hosted on Google Drive? That can cause weird problems to Emby that would be hard to diagnose because to Emby it can look like the drive is gone or the drive is there but files are missing or permissions changed mid file playback. A good test would be to copy a series down to a local disc, setup a test tv show library and try playing them back from the local drive.

Twixter 4 Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 (edited) I've tested another serie which i've watched a lot on emby before without any problems but this is having the same issue as the other serie randomly restarting episodes or playing another one 3-7 minutes in. The previous serie i mentioned i tested on a local drive as well having no issues playing in potplayer and no signs of file corruption so the media shouldn't be the problem. Besides this it's also very rarely rarely automatically playing the next episode, it gets stuck in a infinite loading screen with a black background and then i have to go back and start the episode manually. I uploaded another log which includes the second serie i tested for this called "the big bang theory" which had the random restart as well. Twixter 4 Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 All the emby logs I have are from Gdrive but I've done tests on local drives on potplayer and there is no problem then with the media. I've never had this issue before while using Emby for 1.5 months and it only seems to be happening in my series library (regular series no anime/cartoons etc) movies/cartoons (also series in cartoons) don't seem to be having this issue.

Twixter 4 Posted August 5, 2020 Author Posted August 5, 2020 (edited) I've tested the series and had no issues on emby with local files but i haven't had this replay issue on my gdrive library since saturday either, also on the files it did have a problem with before.
