Rescanning metadata results in fewer cast members listed

I noticed a few movies were incorrectly identified when Emby scanned them in.  So I clicked on Identify and selected the correct movie.  But I noticed that afterwards there were very few cast members listed.  So I tested some other movies that were correctly scanned in originally by re-scanning their metadata.  On everyone I ended up with far fewer cast after the re-scan.  For example on the move The Invisible Man I counted 23 cast members before the re-scan and afterwards it had 5 and 2 writers.

 

Every movie I checked looks like the original scan lists the correct cast.  How do I get the full cast list back on re-scanned movies?

Hi there, what metadata providers are enabled for your movie library, and in what order?

Unless you are having issues with TheMovieDb I do not see this behavior testing the scenario above.

What you are describing is TheMovieDb failed and you only got info from OMDB.  TMDB shows 24 Actors, OMDB shows 4 Actors.

 

We will probably need to see the server log for this action.

 

Note if I disable TMDB I get what OP gets.

Good thinking.  I should have thought to check OMDB and see what it shows for the same movies.  What's odd is that when Emby originally scans it in it must be using TMDB but when I re-scan it uses OMDB?  All re-scans result in only 4-5 actors.

Unless you have errors in your log, only thing I can think of is toggling the Library "Movie metadata downloaders:" on and off as it would suggest a glitch in the setting.

OK, I figured it out.  I have two movie paths X:/Movies and X:/Outside Movies.  All my stuff goes in X:/Movies and things other people request that doesn't interest me I put in X:/Outside Movies.  I then have two libraries in Emby: Movies (which is just X:/Movies) and All Movies (which includes both X:/Movies and X:/Outside Movies).  This allows me to see only my movies but everyone else has access to everything.

 

It turns out that the Movies library had TMDB first and OMDB second, but the All Movies library was the opposite.  I corrected the order on the All Movies library and re-scanned a couple movies and I get all the actors now.  Weird how Emby used one for the initial scan and then the other for re-scans.
