Folder Scan does not see strm files

I am having issues with Emby finding my .strm files on my server.  The folder structure is below

\\192.168.86.66\Public\Shared Videos\Movies 2020\Greyhound (2020).strm.  Inside the file is (https://tv4.live/api/stream/my-email-removed/mypassword removed/movie/tt6048922

I can use the link and play the file directly in web browser.  The Library is not returning anything in the folder.  I will share more info outside this main chain if more info is needed.  I dont see anything in the logs about the library having issues finding files.

Will Emby only work if certain file name format are within the .strm file?

I have put wildly different URLs into strm files OK.  You could try putting the strm file into a subdirectory of the same name, as Emby focusses on the directory names to recognise movies.  Note that you won't get technical details until you play the stream through Emby, because the URL doesn't contain that info.

Yes so you would be better off with:

\Public\Shared Videos\Movies\Greyhound (2020)\Greyhound (2020).strm

For best compatibility across the board use a folder name and only have one movie per folder.

The Library scan is not returning anything.  I tried the same setup on another PC and it worked.  I am going to reset the PC and reinstall Emby and see if that works.

Great, thanks.

@travisolson99 Putting aside the strm files, if you add a normal movie to the library does it show up after doing a scan?

Have you looked at your server log after doing a scan for errors?

I must have had an Emby or Windows issue.  I reinstalled Windows and Emby and all works now.

Nice, glad you got things worked out.

Ya.  Now I am trying to find an automated way to get my M3U file converted to .strm on a daily basis.  Any ideas.

Since it's your thread and don't mind going off topic a bit, what exactly are you trying to do?

Maybe with a bit of explanation, I or another member might have a suggestion or know of a util to do what you need.
