Emby Server Issues 4.4.3.0 when rebuilding server after hardware failure

I recently lost my emby server and file shares when my media server box died.

I have since replaced it with a standalone desktop and luckily I had backups that I could restore from for the configuration.

After getting emby back up and running and then restoring some backups I've been having all sorts of problems in trying to get it to re-scan network shares that previously worked fine as well as accessing parts of the system.

I've attached a screen shot of what I see in the dashboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have never encountered this issue previously when migrating servers.

Only difference is that the computer is Windows 10 version 2004 so I'm wondering if that's part of the issue?

Is Emby Server running as a service or do you have it set to start automatically when you sign in on the computer?

In either case there is a user that runs Emby Server.

This is from windows task manager, Detail tab:

As you can see the username that's running Emby.

Make sure THIS USER has read/write permission for the network shares.

It's quite likely you are using a new/different username in windows with the rebuild and this user doesn't have the proper permission on the network shares.

Let us know if this helps.

@cayars was the same user that had permissions as previously, but turned out that SMB 1.0 wasn't installed on this build of windows for some reason.

Now the only other issue that I'm having is despite setting trans-coding to use the hardware device (a NVIDIA GT 1030) with the latest drivers installed it still seems to want to use the software version instead.

Any ideas how to get around this?
I followed the guidelines on what was required for using hardware trans-coding in the wiki

Glad you got the networking fixed up.

Can you upload a picture of your current setting for transcoding when you click the tanscoding menu option in the web admin?

@cayars I have noticed that even though it says software the movies and tv shows that paused at times now no longer they have a red line that completes and it plays smooth as silk.

Just pity the hardware part isn't kicking in.

It was set to yes for hardware encoding but I changed it to Advanced to see if it helped make a difference

Ive included an example of the transcoding that I see in the dashboard

The video is mpeg4. As you can see above, your hardware doesn't support decoding that. As far as why it wasn't used for encoding, the ffmpeg log might help us determine that.

@Luke I did see that & it was the example that I had at the time to highlight what I was seeing.

But I haven't had anything play recently that is like that, everything sadly is direct play.

This coming weekend I'm hoping to put it through it's paces to find something so that I can get screen shots and the appropriate logs for you.

BTW still love the app kinda wished that I wasn't a lifetime member to help fund further developments.

But I"m still keen on bulk rating (ie. P, PG etc.) of movies/shows etc. to be possible so I don't have to change things individually for my daughter to watch.

Ok that would be great, thanks !

@Luke here are the log files I collected this morning.

Whilst the source was MPEG4 the out put was H.264 (AVC) still saying it was software, I would have thought it have hardware involved in some aspects.

But since installing the video card, even on a software level there is no more stopping/starting of playback and the transcoding even by multiple devices playing is so much quicker.
