embysysadmin 1 Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 My iptv provider updates m3u playlist frequently. As a retired Unix system administrator, I download the m3u playlist frequently, do a diff command on it, and if it is different parse out what I need. Then I check to see if my parsed m3u has changed. At the moment, I have Emby set to refresh its m3u/guide every 4 hours. Even then, I encounter not valid file links. If a command line option existed to refresh m3u/guide, then I could refresh only when needed. Perhaps you could work within the parameters of the narrow one or two command line interfaces you have for each OS. My OS is Debian Linux. Two systemctl commands are systemctl start emby-server and systemctl stop emby-server. Perhaps a systemctl reload emby-server could provide a standard user command line hook to to refresh the m3u/guide. Enough scheduled recordings have been missed and bad m3u url has been confirmed by comparing scheduled record time and vs my last time on my parsed m3u file(s).
Luke 42079 Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Hi, there's currently no command line method but you could use the Emby server api.
embysysadmin 1 Posted July 23, 2020 Author Posted July 23, 2020 Just looking around the plugin catalog. For Emby Scripter-X plugin, is "Guide Refresh" a supported event? I may install the plugin and see its capabilities. Sidebar: I almost want to apologize for my username here. As a unix system administrator for 42 years, I was always either 'root' or 'sysadmin'. Logically I became 'sysadmin' on a Debian install and logically 'embysysadmin' of my embyserver.
embysysadmin 1 Posted July 23, 2020 Author Posted July 23, 2020 Yes, the Emby server api. Within my capabilities. I did follow a long thread on requests for m3u refresh, then guide refresh, then releases now refresh m3u when guide is refreshed. From all that it seemed that some command line method per OS might be appropriate. This was my two cents. Thread can close. I'm not sure, but it seems like a guide refresh momentarily interrupts a playback stream. Any knowledge of that? The general playback app is on Firestick, and I don't keep close track of when my scheduled 4 hour guide refresh occurs,
