Favoriting Games Not Working Properly

Recommended Posts

I am using the gamebrowser plugin. If I search for a game and add it to my favorites, every game in my entire library is simultaneously added instead. The same logic applies to unfavoriting one of the newly added thousands of games. All are subsequently unfavorited as well.

Example:

1) Note there are no Game favorites

2) Search for one  game and add it as a favorite

3) Go to favorites tab and a bunch of random games appear

4) Click on "Favorite Games" link to view all favorited games. Apparently it favorited every game from every system in the entire library. Note the items number.

5) Unfavorite any game in the list

6) Refresh the page and note that the Favorite Games section is once again completely empty

Hi, what external IDs does the game have assigned in the metadata editor?

Hello, there are no IDs assigned as far as I'm aware.

Can you try refreshing the metadata on some of your games and see if this helps? Also what version of Emby Server?

There is no metadata for the games to begin with, but I refreshed them anyway and the issue persists.

I am running the latest version 4.4.3.0 on Synology.

Ok, I took some times to dig this problem because I had some games that would work if I put them in favorites and others just getting a lot of games to be added at the same time.

@tomnjerry74

Here is what I found to only get the games I want to be in favorites:

-To get the game to be unique, library relates on the old gamesdbid tag of game.xml so if you want to be able to put a unique game in your favorites you have to do this steps:

1) Edit the game.xml of the game you want to put in your favorites

2) add the tag <GamesDbId>XXXXX</GamesDbId> with a unique number ( personally I refer to the right number on thegamesdb.net but it's not necessary, the number just need to be unique)

3) Scan your library

4) You can now put this game in your favorites and it will be the only one added.

Another weird thing for @Luke to help to resolve the bug:

The tag in game.xml need to be exactly <GamesDbId>XXXXX</GamesDbId> with a capital D. if it's not this exact spelling , library doesn't recognize it after scan.

But after being recognized, if I edit metadata from webui and save the modifications, the game.xml is modified with the tag <GamesdbId>XXXXX</GamesdbId> with no capital D and it's still works

Hope this help anyone

Thank you.
