I'm getting playback errors trying to watch local H.264 MKV movies

I had a feeling that was what you have when you said 6 tuners. :)

That tuner is not directly supported but hopefully will be in a future release.

It's all scripted on my side but it uses ffmpeg.

https://github.com/mdhiggins/sickbeard_mp4_automator is something you will want to check into as it can do a lot of things including making sure you have a 2 channel AAC audio in each file.

I actually found several freeware software packages on the VideoHelp Forums that can do this job with a GUI and I tested one last night and it worked perfectly and you can queue as many files as your hard drive space can handle.  I would just need to make a custom profile.

But, it appears the problem is gone.  I'm pretty sure it was a competition for resources.  I have been overworking the MediaCenter lately.  MCEBuddy has been running 24/7 to clear all my hard drives of old recorded TV all the while I am still actively recording. Considering MCEBuddy uses FFmpeg as does Emby that may have been an issue, or that the files being played were on the same hard drive TV was being recorded to, sometimes 4 tuners at a time.  MCEBuddy doesn't need to run any more except to clean out new recordings so it doesn't have to run when I'm using Emby, and I have moved the recorded TV folder to a USB hard drive for other reasons.  I also actually turned on Transcocing throttling in Emby......so I am not sure exactly what the problem was but it is gone.

Well that's certainly good news.

It was my understanding from my research and reading that Emby does not have native DVR software but only acts as a front end for software packages like NextPVR.....which is the only reason I have been testing it.  NextPVR does not support my Ceton card either but I have been using it successfully with the aid of a program called CetonProxy which reports the Ceton tuners as HDHomerun tuners to software packages.....it works fine as long as the firmware on the Ceton card is new enough.  The only problem I am having with it is CetonProxy does not start properly from a reboot so I have to manually run it and then restart the NextPVR server so it sees my tuners.....this is annoying but not a big deal if I am rebooting the machine on purpose, but if the machine restarts due to a power outage then I am left with no DVR software running so I have to keep an eye on it....but I have already missed several rare opportunities to record something because this happened when I was away or in the middle of the night.

Emby has had native support for Live TV and DVR for years.

You can read up on some of it's feature by looking at the knowledge base articles that have an overview as well as directions for setting up tuners, guides and channel mapping.

https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001160415-live-tv-setup

Emby also supports many 3rd party DVRs as well through plugins or M3U lists

I personally use it with 2 HDHomeRun Primes (6 total - 3 tuners each), an HDHomeRun Quatro (4 tuner OTA) and a couple of IPTV feeds for another 8 "tuners".

That is awesome, I wonder if CetonProxy would allow Emby to see my tuners as it does with NextPVR?  If you guys have access to one of these cards you may want to try it.

It does work with Emby, just don't add the new tuner with 'Favorites Only' checked, or no channel list will be sent from the proxy to Emby.  Tuning is a bit slower than directly to an HDHR, but usable.
