How do I toggle all movies as "unwatched"?

Building my collections I test play movies for a few seconds as test to at times but I have not actually watched them.  I have many movies marked as watched but I haven't actually watched them.  I also accidentally hit the check mark in the parent folder icon to mark all movies in that folder as marked but selecting the check mark again does not toggle all the movies in the folder to unwatched....what am I doing wrong?

Thanks

That is how you mark all as watched/unwatched.  Only other way is the multi-select option and selecting Mark Unplayed.

I don't know how to get tot that drop down box, I don't see it on my homescreen in emby server on the web app and the check mark in the folder icon will mark all as "watched" but it won't do the reverse.

You should see the multi-select bubble (hover) in the top left of the library card to activate multi-select.  Only way to not see this option is if there is custom css applied removing the option.

But if unchecking a item is not marking it a unplayed we will probably have to see the server log.

Thank you, that did it using the multi-select.  I just never knew that was there.

Need a way to do this on the TV display. There's a PLAYED button in the TV Shows - even in a playlist you can select played/unplayed. Collections doesn't have it on the TV display either

I can mark everything as "played" - I don't see the "Mark all unplayed" - perhaps it's only visible if all items are played. That seems counterintuitive. I should be able to reset all without selecting all.

Also, I have no way to cancel the process once it starts. :(

Need to be more specific, but I do not know if every possible client/app has multi-select functions.  But as shown above via the web client ie a browser you can multi-select the library and mark as played or unplayed for every item within that library.  But sounds like you are doing this action per item not per library.

Correct as you are performing a Library action.  But if that is not correct you need to provide more information.

Yes it's a library action but it's not atomic.

I can understand why we would not want to stop a "scan all files"

I don't understand why we could not let a "mark all" process stop between titles.

As long as ACID is maintained, all is well. Is the "mark all played" done as a single call?

Just wondering here. The mark all played problem is more a result of the new context menu.

I've reported that elsewhere.

I suppose both should be there. They are both in the multi-select tool, if that helps.

In the multi-select tool. Not in the context menu.

Yes from a library it should have both but personally believe it should not contain either and should only exist via multi-select to prevent mishaps.

Item level you have two options to make as played via card overlay (or buttons within that level) and context menu.  But make as unplayed only via card overlay (or button).  So both options are there just not on the context menu.

I'm good with removing it from the library and pushing it into the mutli-select only.

I've seen it mentioned that a way to mark all as unplayed could be found in the mutli-select "my media" spot, but I only see the option to mark everything as played. It seems odd to not be able to do both from the same area.

For items that contain multiple other items (libraries, series, seasons, playlists, etc) the option to 'mark unplayed' replaces the option to 'mark played' once every item inside has been marked as played.

Ie; select 'mark played', then you'll be able to select 'mark unplayed' after.
