First off, this new forum is really difficult to use.....

Anyway, I have a new device that I am using as a Samba Server.  Every device and app can "find" it on my network EXCEPT Emby.  It shows up under windows explorer, on all my windows machines, Kodi finds it on all of my devices, BUTT, I can't add my video files to the Emby library.

I am running the HDHomeRun  record engine on it, and all my devices can "find" those recordings...........

In Windows explorer browse inside of the URL that you want to use and the copy the path (which should include the folder name) then add this to emby. Also check that the account that is running emby server has access to the folder share read/write.

I have tried the first suggestion.....I am not sure how I can verify that my server has access to the folder share read/write.......

Are they on the same subnetwork? Can they ping each other by ipaddress?

Yes, they are on the same subnet... Not sure how to ping inside Emby.

The samba server running on my new device is very lacking.  I installed the Emby server on this device, it can find the internal HDD storage fine, but cannot find any of the other devices on my network that have my media.  It can't even access my network......... So, my issue is with this samba server running on this new device.

Do you see anything if you used the R:\Video?

Ok, problem solved.....The crappy file server that Beelink was very, very basic.....  I installed a samba app (SMB Lan drive), disabled the file server, now, everything fell into place............

This is the device that Beelink sent me to test......  I supports two 16 TB drives, internally.......  The firmware is still in progress.

No, nothing........ but it was because if the poor implementation of their file server.

I really wanted to run the Emby server on this device, but the SoC is just not powerful enough.  It is running the latest Amlogic's S922X-H processor, but guess that is still not powerful enough.  Of course, I wont run the Emby server on my Nvidia Shield either for the same reason.

Are you running Emby as a service on Windows?

If you do, you have either to run it with a user, that has access to the fileshare or give the share an access (read) right for everyone.

But I wouldn't run Emby as service, AFAIR it also has some problems with hardware en-/decoding and more.

Yes, I am running my server on a Windows 10 machine as a service.  I am not aware of any other way.

I "think" my server has given access to everyone....... I will double check, if I can figure out how to do it..

Look to see what users is running Emby Server (can use task manager) and make sure that user has access proper access to the NAS.

I am in the windows computer that is running the Emby server, how do I find the user from that screen.

No, not sure Emby can help.

Right click on your bottom bar in windows and select Task Manager (or start from search).

Click the details tab and scroll down to the Emby Server entry and you'll see the name it's running under.  THAT name needs proper access on the NAS.

Let us know if this helps or not.

I have no idea why or how, but it is working now.  I am only running the native file server that Beelink just added in it's recent update.  I uninstalled the server app that I had downloaded.

Now I can add any media files that are stored on the internal HDD from Emby...................

I really wish I knew what got it working..........

I also wish that the Emby server would run on this device.

I am still tinkering with this device, the Beelink GS-King X with dual internal HDD bays......

I am now running beta 4.5.0.14 sever, and it seems to be working pretty good so far...... I am recording two TV channels from my OTA HDHomeRun tuners, and playing 2 recorded shows and one live channel.  Seems to be working good with this test.  Goal is to get this device to be a ONE stop media player AND Emby DVR.  Right now, the HDHomeRun DVR runs great on this device, but the Emby DVR is far superior to the HDHR DVR.

Any way, one minor issue, I can't get the Profile image to show up....  server log attached.

Just a small piece of information, I ordered and TRIED to install this HDD >> Seagate 16TB Exos X16 7200 rpm 12 Gb/s SAS 3.5" Internal HDD.  Fortunately, it did not destroy my device when I TRIED to make it fit... It looks like a SATA drive, but it is NOT.....  Guess I have been out of the loop for modern hardware, too long.

I found out how Nvidia Shield was able to "see" my external hard drives, there is a setting that "mounts" those external drives.  I told Beelink how Nvidia was able to mount the drives, and they are going to see if they can do something similar........

I had a similar problem getting to an SMB share on a Linux box.  The problem turned out to be that even though Samba's smbd was running and every machine on my LAN could see it except the Shield, Samba's nmbd was not properly configured.  When I fixed that the Shield connected effortlessly.  Don't know that much about Samba, but I think nmbd has to do with NetBIOS discovery.   I would look to see if there is an nmb log file somewhere.

What profile image would you be referring to?
