devin_mm 3 Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 I am looking to migrate my Emby installation from a Windows VM to a Linux VM (specifically Ubuntu). The only two things I have running on this VM are nvidia-headless-440 drivers and Emby, the GPU is properly detected by the OS, everything shows as good with nvidia-smi but I am getting errors in the hardware_detection log. Does anyone have any thoughts? hardware_detection-63730255464.txt
Luke 42080 Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Hi there, did you follow our hardware acceleration setup guide? https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001160148-hardware-acceleration-overview
devin_mm 3 Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 Hello thanks for the reply, yes I did follow the setup guide there's isn't much info just a minimum driver version of 390 and I am running 440. I am running a Quadro RTX 5000 and was doing so successfully in Windows so I know it's not the hardware.
devin_mm 3 Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 I fixed it, I am an idiot and tried to get cute. I installed the headless drivers since this is just a server VM and I didn't think it would need the full driver set. I removed nvidia-headless-440 and installed nvidia-driver-440 and now my transcoding shows up. It's a chunky install ~1.1GB but worth it.
