I installed Emby on my server today, and it's been a treat, but I'm having this one weird outlier in my TV shows directory. As you can see here:

Instead of recognizing that "Emma" is the show folder and "Season 1" is a season folder (which Emby did for every single other show), it has instead decided that the "Season 1" folder is the root folder of the show. As in, if I click on "Emma (2009)" it shows this at the top:

How can I make it use the parent folder instead? What's weird is that the parent folder doesn't seem to be recognized at all. Unlike all the other root folders, it doesn't have an "Original Title" field, a "Status" field, nor "Critic Rating," "Runtime," "End Date," "Display Order," no "External Id" fields, and in the triple-dot menu in the top right, there's no "Identify" option.

That is, it seems to lack a lot of behavior that most of my other show folders have.

What's going on, and how do I fix it?

If this is in fact Emma (2009) why don't you rename the folder to this and rescan the library so that the show name and folder are the same.

I don't have the year in any of my other show folders, and I don't really want it, either.

Understood, but know that weird stuff like this will happen from time to time when not following recommended naming conventions.  The year helps to distinguish shows with the same name but different years.  Flash, Magnum PI, MacGyver come to mind as shows that might display like this without the year.

It was just a suggestion to try and see what the result would have been.

It's required when there is more than one show with that name.  If you don't specify the year you will get unreliable results.  It's not needed for all shows but it is needed here.

Generally speaking, you should match your naming to your metadata provider.  For TV that's commonly TVDB and there are two shows called Emma on TVDB.
