crusher11 1101 Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 At the moment Emby just compares the last time code viewed with the runtime of the default version. So for example I just watched the silent version of Blackmail (1929), which is an hour and 16 minutes. But it defaults to the sound version, which is 9 minutes longer, so even though I finished watching the entire film it's still in my Continue Watching. I would assume that if it defaulted to the silent version and I'd stopped it at an hour and 17 minutes it would mark it watched even though I had eight minutes remaining.
ebr 16184 Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 The multi-version feature is designed for different qualities of the same item as opposed to different cuts of a movie so, yes, these types of issues will occur if you use it for different cuts. Another option would be to use separate items and a collection. Thanks. 1
crusher11 1101 Posted July 4, 2020 Author Posted July 4, 2020 But that ruins my "total movies" count, puts multiple copies of the same film in my Continue Watching, and is just generally a terrible way to do something multi versioning handles much better. It ought to be tweaked to accommodate this, frankly. I'm sure plenty of people have more than one cut of a film, but Emby can transcode on the fly so multiple quality versions aren't strictly necessary.
Luke 42079 Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 That's currently the way the multi version system works, but more options are possible for the future. Thanks.
