rbjtech 5285 Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Hi, So Emby is showing/logging the LAN Gateway address for all my remote users rather than the real WAN IP. This wouldn't be so much of an issue, but IPBan is looking for failed WAN login attempts and will block the LAN gateway on my windows firewall as that is IP it reads from the log ... I'll look at the logs later - but thought I'd throw it out there to see if anybody had seen something similar ? This on the main release 4.3.3.0 Thanks.
Luke 42086 Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Hi, perhaps you disabled remote access, or perhaps outgoing communications are failing and therefore the server is unable to discover it's wan address.

Hi @Luke - thanks for coming back. No as I said, everything is working - I and others can remote stream just fine - it's just for that user in the Activity/logs it's showing the WAN address as my local emby gateway - not the actual public IP. For all LAN addresses (on various other VLANs) those are all showing correctly. Web tools are all listing my WAN IP just fine. It used to work fine - so I'm wondering if it's something I have changed or a perhaps a bug has crept in.  Do others see WAN addresses listed in 'Activity' for remote users on the latest stable release ? Thanks. Â
pwhodges 2014 Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 What do you mean by WAN address and Public IP, if they are not the same? Paul
rbjtech 5285 Posted July 5, 2020 Author Posted July 5, 2020 Hi Paul, WAN Address / Public IP - Same thing. I always used to get the public IP of the remotely connected user in the Activity (and in the logs) but now I only get my local lan gateway that emby is using. The logs are reporting the connection is 'local' when it is infact remote. It all works fine - but it's reporting it wrong which is a problem for IPBan as it may now block the LAN gateway which is obviously a bad thing 2020-07-05 09:02:02.420 Info MediaInfoService: RemoteClientBitrateLimit: 15000000, RemoteIp: 192.168.30.254, IsInLocalNetwork: True If somebody could advise if they are seeing Public WAN IP's in the activity log, then I'll investigate my end .. Thanks !
pwhodges 2014 Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 OIC, you mean the WAN address is showing where the local address should be. Hmm. Paul
Luke 42086 Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 You'll need to configure the proxy to pass the original ip addresses through so that emby server can see them.
