revengineer 142 Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 I have a new server setup in a Windows 10 VM running on FreeNAS. The main difference to my previous setup on Windows Server Essentials is that media directories are accessed as SMB shares rather than drive letter. The new setup seems to work great except when I add new movies, the Date Added is always set to 1/1/1980. The Date Modified shown in Windows Explorer for the files in question are current, i.e, within recent days. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Fix or workaround appreciated. Thanks in advance!
revengineer 142 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 This seems to be an issue on my end. After coping the movie file across shares using robocopy, the target file shows the correct Date Modified, but the Date Created is 1/1/1980. I am playing with the switches but have not yet found the correct ones needed to preserve all dates.
revengineer 142 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 Continuing the monologue, it looks like the bug is specific to using robocopy on FreeNAS. I reverted to xcopy and that preserved all dates.
Carlo 4561 Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 A possible work-around is click on Library in the web admin then Advanced menu up top. Change first option from file creation date to use date scanned into library. Don't know if you will like that or not but just thought I throw it out there.
