Emby not playing episode listed in metadata

Hi,

I've just added the complete Battlestar Galactica (reimagined 2003), but it seems to be confused!

As an example, the metadata for an episode is as follows:

image.png.bef59f5b80da038c2653cb80acd22cbd.png

However, when I click on play, it plays a completely different file (In this case a file named: 'Battlestar Galactica- Blood And Chrome Deleted Scenes 1.m4v') Both files are in the C:\Users\User\TV\Battlestar Gallactica\Series 0 directory. This is happening on 'browse library', Emby Theatre and the Roku app.

Does anybody have any idea what might be going on please?

A conjecture...  "Deleted Scenes 1" in the directory "Season 0" might also be interpreted as s00e01.  In that case Emby might think you have two versions, and will choose for itself which to play by default.  If you go to the information page for that episode, do you see a drop-down to choose a version?

It is only "Specials" that are supposed to go in the "Season 0" folder. You need to put these extras into a folder called "Extras" and the problem will not occur.

Above is a similar thread with some advice.

Ah, I see. Misunderstanding on my part. Thanks for the feedback both.

Back again!

I've created an 'Extras' folder and put all the deleted scenes etc in there, but emby is still picking them up instead of the S0001 specials etc in the S0 folder . Is there a naming convention for these extras or is there a guide on naming TV stuff available  anywhere?

@cayars

Thanks

https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159110-tv-naming covers the naming.

What I think might be causing you grief is the naming of the extras and files for season 0.  In order to pull meta-data for them they need to be named correctly.

I'd highly recommend using FileBot (filebot.net) to name/number them correctly.

Could you try renaming them proper with this tool, then testing again?

Thanks,

Carlo

Apologies, but I'm totally confused with all of this. What is the naming convention for extras? (Not Specials, as I realise Specials go into a 'Series 0' folder).

1. Do they go into a directory called 'Extras'? If so where/how do they show up in EMBY?

2. Do you have to exclude any numbers in the file name to stop them appearing in any of the individual series? As far as I can see any numbers in the file name cause confusion.

Thanks
