EmbyUser50 0 Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 I store my movies on an external USB hard drive and run emby on a Macbook pro. After emby see's all the movies an populates emby with them will emby remove all the information if the USB drive is removed or retain them ?

If Emby does a scan while the drive is disconnected then all info gets wiped. It would be just like you deleted the files themselves. Of course should you choose to store nfos, artwork, bif files etc alongside the movie files, as I do, then if you disconnect the drive Emby cannot delete much of anything as the files cannot be accessed but a rescan will be required to reset the Emby database.

You would have to turn off scanning related tasks both in the library's settings (some are in the "advanced" part I believe) and in the scheduled tasks. I have never tried to do so therefore I do not know exactly what would need to be turned off.
Luke 42091 Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 Have you tried allowing the regular scan to run to see what happens?
