Emby will not play media without an internet connection

Hiya,

We have had two internet outages in the last week and I am very surprised that both clients didn't work.

1) first outage was with apple tv. screen shot attached.

2) second outage was today and I was using the web client. I clicked on a show and the circle spinner just stayed up.

I verified connectivity to the server with SSH. Emby server was still running. Once the internet came backup I refreshed and it was ok.

Linux server: 4.4.2.0
Apple Tv client: 1.4.5
Chrome 75.
 

Are there any plans to make offline a first class feature in Emby?

Hi.  The current release of the Apple TV app is an online app.  The application itself is loaded from the internet.  The next release will not be this way.

For the web app, we'd have to look at a specific example to know what was happening there.
