gomeskiran 0 Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 (edited) I've been looking for a solution to this online and there isn't a solution mentioned. I'll use the example I saw online. Let's say I have 5 versions of Avatar - theatrical release (720p and 1080p), extended edition (720p and 1080p), and 3D. On Emby, I don't see a way for me to select at play time which version I want to see, all the replies say it's supposed to select the correct version for you based on the resolution of the playback device, so you don't have to think about it and can just hit 'play' and let it do the rest. However, this is nonsensical in that it can't know if I want to watch the extended edition, theatrical release, or 3D version, so I have to give them separate folders and name the files separately. I can put them in a collection and give them different posters to differentiate them, but I feel like I shouldn't have to do this, and it doesn't resolve my file structure problem. On Plex, I can just select 'play' and let it do its thing, or I can select a menu option to "play specific version" and then it lets me pick the individual file, so I can name them all with the same video name and I can put them in the same folder. Yeah, I know, different program. I'm saying "shouldn't Emby be able to do this basic function at least as well as Plex?" There is actually a desired naming structure for Emby to differentiate these things, shouldn't it be able to use that information sensibly?https://19216811.cam/ https://1921681001.id/ https://jpgtopdf.onl/ Edited June 17, 2020 by gomeskiran
Solution pwhodges 2012 Posted June 14, 2020 Solution Posted June 14, 2020 With multiple versions you should have a drop-down on the information screen, alongside the drop-downs to select audio and subtitle versions (if you have multiples); if there is only one version there is no drop-down: If you click the play button in the main listing of movies, you skip this info screen - click to one side of it and you get it. For series episodes you click the (i) icon to the right of the thumbnail to get the info screen on which you can make this selection. Paul
Luke 42079 Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Correct, the version drop down is right there allowing you to select the version you prefer.
