What exactly do you mean by "pinning"?

Are you attaching YOUR Emby account to someone else's user on your server?

Yeah so my emby account is linked to my server and I have 1000 device subscribsion and I add mainly firesticks which gives you a pin code.basically my account seems to be getting blocked or the password going invalid and then I have to change the password.yestueday I had to delink my emby a account from my server 6 times before anyone was able to access my server and after linking my server through emby connect after doing 5 to 6 devices would get an email saying your account has be locked.

Everyone is using your account to access your server?

@ebr

I started using my account with "Emby Connect" two weeks ago after installing a new remote server for my family outside my home in a data center in the Netherlands.

I informed you in another post about my login here in the new forum. My original username here when I made my first registration years ago was a different one than the current one. I changed my nickname in the previous control panel of the forum a month ago, more or less by the current nickname, However, before the change of two days ago I always had to use the original username to login. (The same password but the old username, the original one)

Last night I couldn't see the remote server on my Nvidia Shield (the local server, yes), so I thought refreshing the session would be a good idea, so I logged out of Emby Connect and logged in using this username "Riggs" and my forum password, and that way I was able to access the remote server again. I must add that first I tried to use my old nickname to log in, but since it didn't let me, I used the new one, and the issue was resolved.

It seems that in the move to the new forum system, some nicknames that were changed by users before the change were left as the "official" for the account (at least that's how it was with my credentials).

In my case I prefer to leave my nickname as it is, I like it better than the old one, that doesn't bother me, but I think the problem is in that small detail.

Maybe tell users to try using the last nickname they had on the forum and the correct password, maybe that's an emerging solution.

If I was struck that the new nickname worked with the password to connect. It makes more sense for me to be like this, and I think the forum doesn't allow nickname change now.

I hope this helps you.

Okay, so yes everyone is sharing the same user?

If that's the case I probably know what is happening.  The new forum software will lock a user for 15 minutes after three failed login attempts.  With that many people using the same ID probably what is happening is one or more of them entering the wrong password and the account gets locked.

That's not really how we envisioned the system being used (sharing one ID with a huge number of people) so we'll have to think about this...

Hi.  In the old version of the software, there was the concept of a different "Display Name" from your user ID.  I think the new version eliminated that and now there is just one (probably due to lots of confusion on the part of users).

Yep. And it is okay.

I have no problem with my family users either because they are new users (a week or so) and everyone has his own account.

It is working how it have to work for me, just the username, but like i said, that is no problem for me.

Thanks

Yes.  The system is designed for each user to have their own login.  Much our our functionality is designed around that concept.

Um, no - the display name is still there:

I have multiple different users and each of them that use a pin to sign in to the emby app on their smart TVs are now being asked to enter a new pin and RE-login but their emby connect usernames/emails passwords aren’t working.

do you recommend they reset passwords for emby connect with their emails address? Cause maybe they kept trying with a username and the account was locked out.

But I think that's all there is now.  If you change that, then that is your login ID as well.

Yes, I would try that.  Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

OK, I tried it, and you're right.  Weird - every other forum software I know, the display name is just that and no more.  But here you can also use your email address to login, which will continue to work even if you change the display name.
