Folks: I have my Emby server and apps working perfectly with Emby installed on my desktop PC and app on the Nvidia Shield. I have a Netgear WNDR4700 router that has a hard drive in it. I have 2 questions. If I put my media files on the hard drive on the router ( and change the required settings in Emby), will the Emby app on my Nvidia Shield be able to access and read them if the desktop PC is off.  My Shield is ethernet connected to the router. Alternately, is it practical to 'load' the Emby server on my router and accomplish the same thing. My router is always on, PC is not. Prior to my Emby experience, media files on my router could be accessed by my Samsung TV. or my my Android phone. Thanks in advance to all responses,

Hi, no it won't. You could install Emby Server on the Shield though. But whatever device you choose as the server will need to be on.

Thanks. That doesn't come as a surprise.
