picturepete 2 Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Hi Looking at Emby to replace older system, set up DVBlink as tuners and works well, brings the program guide in nicely, however She who must be obeyed asked why can I not press from the guide and go straight to the program instead of bringing up another screen telling you about it and having to press play again, fair comment I thought but is it possible? Cheers Pete
ebr 16169 Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Hi. You didn't say what app you are using but from the TV apps you can press the "play" button on your remote control to directly play the channel.
picturepete 2 Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 Just using the web browser and the windows home theatre, which is giving me a bit of grief as it seems to not want to play movies albeit DVD's (yes I know) on the server ie the system emby is installed on, but will play them fine from the browser, however they play ok from clients running theatre which for some strange reason now will not display any controls, they are there but hidden. Very frustrating. But I want to (sorry she who must be obeyed) wants to just click on the channel in Guide and it plays. :-) Yours Peter
Luke 42077 Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 albeit DVD's (yes I know) Hi there, we're sorry to hear about this. We have limited capacity to allocate our resources onto support of dvd folders. For the best experience possible I would suggest converting to mkv.
picturepete 2 Posted June 8, 2020 Author Posted June 8, 2020 I understand but life is to short to convert 290 DVD's :-) any ideas on the zapping though?
Spaceboy 2573 Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 There are options to do batch conversions of dvds with makemkv. It shouldn’t take long to do
Luke 42077 Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 any ideas on the zapping though? Are you primarily using a keyboard and mouse?
picturepete 2 Posted June 8, 2020 Author Posted June 8, 2020 No, I am using remotes, my system at the moment uses WMC which frankly I have yet to see beaten for ease of use, I am basing this on she who must be obeyed, so all my remotes on the different system are windows based. The main TV uses a Harmony remote and the others cheapy 2.4ghz windows/android remotes. Live TV is supplied by DVBlink which I have used for years and is good and stable using 4 satellite cards and a subscription to a UK TV guide.
Luke 42077 Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 So did you try the play button shortcut as Ebr has suggested?
picturepete 2 Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 (edited) Yes ctrl p does play immediately, but absolutely no good if using a remote, I would not use the play button as that is pretty much seen as controlling movies etc, I am putting myself in the position of a non techy person who (in my opinion) would select a channel to watch and press OK. I would not have a keyboard being used so you can watch TV, perhaps you could have a setting to choose whether you go to the select screen or play immediately like Kodi does. picturepete 2 Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 Also channel up and down don't appear to work from a remote.
Luke 42077 Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Also channel up and down don't appear to work from a remote. Support for this is planned for future updates. Thanks for the feedback.
picturepete 2 Posted July 4, 2020 Author Posted July 4, 2020 So moving on, for the life of me I cannot stop the Live TV using NAR track although I have selected English in the settings, I have re-installed on another system and still the same, even if I select the English track it still plays the nar track, I have enabled transcoding in the DVBlink app but that makes no differance, , I also can't play HD tv on Edge just spins round and round, will play SD TV. And there is no overlay on some of my systems for Theatre. It is such a shame as the concept is brilliant.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 I had to resort to using dvbviewer and disabling the NAR track at source because this was never fixed
picturepete 2 Posted July 4, 2020 Author Posted July 4, 2020 Can't see how to disable the NAR track on DVB, any pointers, I am not using tvmosaic which is pants
Luke 42077 Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 We're looking into improving this. Thanks for the feedback.
picturepete 2 Posted July 4, 2020 Author Posted July 4, 2020 To be honest, until things like this are cleared up, remote control use, audio selection, not working on latest browsers, overlay problems on a paid for app and playing from a selection on the guide I must cancel my subscription. Such a shame, these are not side issues but for a media server fundamental issues.
