Hello all,

I have a Mi Box S running Pie with latest client and server.  I noticed that display mode cannot go over 1080p60hz despite streaming a 4K movie, and 2160p is not in the list for selection. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Hi ebr,

Yes my tv is 4K and at the info box it shows the device is connected @ 2160p60hz on HDMI1 - the same config my UI is set on Mi Box S.

No, that is only for built-in Android TVs.

Does your TV support 4K?  Is it hooked up with an appropriate cable?

What do you mean you have it running Pie?

I meant Android TV Pie ( Android 9.0)

What, exactly, are you referring to here?  Where are you seeing this limit?

Open emby, pick something and play.

Streaming info says 2160p HEVC (direct)

Playback info says display mode 1080p.

So why I see display mode of 1080p since UI ( Android prefs) and content is 4K.

Ps: on display mode menu it won't let me adjust higher than 1080p.

Screenshot is now attached.

I get the same issue as above using a vodafone tv android box.

Okay, I guess it is the same issue where that reports the UI resolution instead of the video one.

Maybe the ShieldTV is the exception to the rule rather than TV's with built-in AndroidTV?

But my UI is set to 2160p as well. Unless Android TV is somehow upscaling it from 1080p. I don't know. Anyway, One could assume the video itself is not downscaled, right?

The video is properly displayed in 4K.  The Android TV UI only renders in 1080.

Same exact issue. LG CX 4k TV with latest Shield TV OS. Display Mode for me shows 1080p and streaming info shows 4k. Really annoying!

@shpankey, does ebr's response above clarify why you see that?
