samuelqwe 317 Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 (edited) I have two requests related to actor images: 1. I would like to be able to choose a preferred actor image source. For shows I prefer TMDB’s actor images since they are images of the actor rather than the character they play, but I prefer TVDB’s metadata. Some actors then have cartoon characters as their image on TVDB and it can be hard to tell who it is. Having the ability to choose the preferred actor image source is what I am looking for. It is possible to do it manually, but it’s a little tedious. 2. My second request, would be to show TVDB’s character images when available, and fallback to TMDB or the default actor image when unavailable. It doesn’t necessarily need to downloaded all the images because it could take a lot of space on the server, but perhaps Emby could cache image links and load them dynamically per show. That means that Emby would show a different image for the same actor on different shows when available. This request could go really well with the request above. I don’t know if these requests are possible at all, but it would certainly be nice to have. Edited May 30, 2020 by samuelqwe
Luke 42077 Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 The issue is the actor images come with the media they belong to. We don't fetch them separately. If we were to start doing that, the scans would take dramatically longer.

Then I can see why it may be difficult to implement without significant slowdowns... that’s too bad, but I totally understand.
Luke 42077 Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 Yes the manual image editor can do independent lookups, but of course that's a manual process.
