Backup whole Emby Server

Hey there,

 

Is it possible to Backup the whole Emby Server. I change my server this weekend and I want to backup the media metadata, because it takes too long to sync.

Is that possible?

If you copy the entire emby folder structure from wherever you installed it (the user profile if you used the web install version) to your new server and ensure the paths for the media are the same, then it should fire straight up.

 

Note - before you copy it - turn OFF the boot library scan in your existing server - this way, if the libraries are incorrect, then the scan won't have a chance to remove the missing items on the new server.

 

Also remember to close down the old version first or you will have conflicting ports - OR configure the new version to use a different port (8097 for example) and you can then run BOTH to ensure the migration has happened successfully.  Once your happy, then change it back to the previous port if you wish.
