it's really sad to see that this gets ignored again and again, at least in terms of real action.

would be great to know where the issue lies. is it money? I'm sure there are enough people, if asked, would help fund this feature.

is it capability? if so, it's also solvable by money (most of the time).

there are requests for this feature going back as early as 2017, here in this same forum. plex introduced it over 4 years ago.

what is it? where is the issue?

I'm feeling dissapointed as you are, jellyfin which is a fork of emby already made it with less ressources. At this point i just expect somedays to move from emby, that's sad i have been an early supporter and more the time pass less satisfied i'm with the road overall. I don't think i'll comment that again, we should just make peace with the fact despise beeing one of the most endorsed feature with multiple post nothing as been done for nearly 8 years. It will probably never come to life.

Why would you move from Emby? Just use  Kodi with Kodi for Emby Connect. It has watch party built into and works great with Emby

why should someone have to use another product?  when a product like jelly and plex do both .

its sad because even if emby added this feature as a 5$ addon people would go for it.  but instead no communication.  i think people would be happier if emby just came out and said no we arent doing it....

I strongly suspect if that were the case, that's what they would say.  It just seems to be a very low priority.

Interesting assumption. might be true. but you realize that this is the most and most often requested feature by the community? if you are right, this just means that the emby team doesn't really care about their community. I'm not saying that this is the case but there are only so many reasons after 7 years of inaction. at some point, a 'it's on the roadmap' doesn't cut it and is the same as doing nothing, which leads me back to them not caring. in that sense, I'm with @bandit8623and a no we aren't doing it would be much better and at least honest.

I am not sure how you came to that conclusion, but by the reaction count (which is how the Emby team determines the popularity as per their pinned post in this forum), this is only the 11th most reacted request. There are 10 other requests that have more users requesting it.

Can you point us to these other more requested features?

.. so #1 - raised in July 15, 2016.

So I make that just over 8 years to get a basic media center feature implemented... ☺️

I think the use of the word 'priority' has probably lost all meaning in this discussion being brutally honest..

Comments in a request really become irrelevant just like now as it all cross discussion and nothing to do with the overall request.

Personally should be a Poll with no comments.

I don't think the developer have any plan to include this feature.

They said it looked interesting and I am sure its on their list, but they have a limited amount of resources and have other things as higher priority. Its just the reality of things, they also seem to focus more on providing a good experience instead of a quick slapped together solution (Ive seen this in other topics).

My daughter who lives many hours from me and I love and have used tis feature on Plex many times. i recently decided to move to Plex due to lack of support from Plex and being hacked, I mis this feature greatly as does my daughter and son.

Thank you,

Dusty

evil_crab::When you’re watching together with somebody remote, do you sit on the phone with them or something when you watch together? I just don’t get it.

My daughter that is several states away gets on the phone with me while watching together, we chat while watching, if there are more of us we use the conference call feature on iPhone.

In my opinion it would be a welcome addition, Plex has it and it works great. Since moving to Emby  we still watch together ut it takes us a bit to try to get synced.

Thank you,

Dusty

The proof of concept to do the initial sync is actually reasonably easy to do - I've done it myself, it works great and starts all 'sessions' from a set point - but the issue is when people want to 'pause' etc or you start introducing transcoding and different clients into the mix - then it all starts going wrong because there is no client/server 'sync' that happens peroidically.    I guess a manual 're-sync' would work - but it's not very slick.

Jellyfin has this feature.  I have a server running for my remote kids who like to watch movies together sometimes.
