I've just ripped about 10 bluray's and noticed that the chapters are not showing up in Emby.  Any idea why this is happening?

EDIT:  Just looked at some other movies in my collection that were not recently added and chapters are not showing at all.

Hi there, what format did you rip them to? Has the library scan completed?

Have you enabled chapter image creation?  Some of the apps won't show them without the images.

Luke, all of my files are MKV and yes library scans do complete.

I have not changed any of my settings at all and for some reason, chapters are not showing on any of my movies.  The were showing previously.  Can you show me exactly what settings you are referring to so I can double check?

"Enable Thumbnail Image Creation" in the library settings page.

This is what I have checked in my Movie library.  Re-scanned library and chapters are NOT showing for any movies at all.

I suggest saving them with the media but have you confirmed that they have been created properly for these items?  If you move the mouse over the progress bar during playback, do you see images?

I tried playing a movie and moved the mouse over the progress bar during playback as you suggested.  I DO NOT see any images but rather the time stamp as I move along the progress bar.

Its strange because every MKV file that has chapters associated with it, has showed up in Emby up until I posted this issue yesterday.

I'm also starting to see Emby taking a LONG time to scan the library when I add a new movie.  Even if I click "Identify", I click the correct movie and Emby just sits there and spins.

Refresh the Metadata on a test item - for me this regenerated the chapters.

I think this is a bug as I needed to do this for all my older items - newly added items appeared to be ok (this may be as a consequence of the decision to only use 10 second intervals, I think it is all related...).

Yes, I think it is related as it happens the same way over here since the 5s thumbs have been removed.

That's why I decided to give up the 5s thumbs and go with the 10s ones, including recreating all of them due to the great removal decision.

Hopefully the 10s thumbs won't be affected by such a change just like the 5s ones were.

Recreating thumbs will take probably more than 1 week over here and should be avoided to the max.

The existing 5sec .bif's work - you just need to refresh the library.  This is significantly faster than re-creating the .bif's (by deleting them and starting again) but is only recommended if you don't have any customised metadata.. as the refresh may remove those details ..

I have tried refreshing the metadata and it did work.....to a certain extent.  On a couple of times the chapters didnt show up after doing that unless I restarted the server.

My main question is, why did they all disappear in the first place???  For every movie in Emby, chapters have disappeared from each one.

A question which a lot of people are asking. :P

It appears a 'fix' was made to combat issues with the 5s images (I don't recollect seeing any noise on this in the forums tbh) but the fix appears to have caused many more problems for many more users.  A lot of people probably just haven't noticed their chapters are 'missing' - until they go to use them ..

I'm having a similar issue with movies and their chapters are not showing up when playing back.   Trying to jump to any random part of the video by clicking on the timeline causes the movie to freeze most of the time.  These are mkv files with H264 video and various audio formats including ac3, dts....  Some functionality is desperately needed .... The videos only play from the beginning or moving in 10 second intervals, which is not acceptable.
