Few questions about thumbnail creation

I just noticed the new (?) setting of creating thumbnails and storing those files with the media content. They are created in .bif format, whatever that is, but I like the fact that it creates just one file for each media file rather than all those separate images of before, bravo! I have three questions:

1) If I rebuild the server, does it skip thumbnail files already created, or will it rerun through the entire process again?

2) Somewhat related question, I have two servers (one local, one remote). Can I start the process to create thumbnails on both servers to speed up the process, or would that clash with each other?

3) Is there a way to view/extract the images from the .bif files? Some 3rd party app perhaps?

Thanks, and as always, keep up the good work... Emby is great :)

1. Yes, if there is an existing .bif stored with the media, then it will not have to rebuild it again.  If they are stored locally however (in the emby/data directory) then yes you will.

2. Depends on the above, if both servers use the same remote media files (on a shared nas for example), then you could do this faster by selecting individual libraries per emby server and let that server work on that library.  If local media, then each emby server is going to have to create it own set of .bif files.

3. I've seen a .bif generator (in the utilities area on these forums I believe), but not sure about an extractor.   Not sure why you would want to see them in this form ?

Thanks very much for the prompt answers! Yes the two servers use a shared library location, so that'll make things easier :)

The 3rd question was more of a convenience, not a necessity, so I'll accept your answer as "not really possible" :D

Thanks again!
