Multi-version TV Episodes broken since update.

Emby is pulling any file from "Behind the Scenes", "Extras", "Deleted Scenes" etc, folders for TV shows and if they have a number in the filename, it's being added to the corresponding episode of the 1st season as an alternate version of the episode.  I think this started with since the update, at least I've never come across it beforehand.  Here are some examples:

This is Season 1 episode 1.  Because there's a file in the Deleted Scenes folder labeled "Season 3 Episode 1" it's pulling it in as an alternate version of this episode.

Below is Episode 2 of Season 1.  Because a file in the Extras Folder has a "2" in it, it pulled it in as an alt version of episode 2.

This one from Futurama is crazy.  Everything that had a "1" it pulled in as alt versions.

For all shows, it only affects Season 1.  Later seasons are fine.

Hi, since what update? How are the files named and organized?

Since the one a few weeks ago.  At least, I never came across this issue before that.

Below is the Season 1 folder for "Home Movies":

This is the file it's pulling the alt version from:

This is the season 1 folder for Futurama.  Note, this already has an actual alt version labeled for it.:

Here is the "Featurettes" where its pulling al of there other "alt versions" from:

Just for comparison:

Here is Episode 1 of Season 2, correctly showing the 1 alternate version:

And here is Episode 2 of Season 2, correctly showing no alternate versions:

It appears to just be Season 1 of each show that it's cramming these into.

What are you comparing?

But at the same time Emby does not support those folders in TV only Movies.

The comparison is that Emby is drawing any Extra with a number in the title and assuming it's an alternate version of that corresponding episode number of the 1st season only.  Not of season 2, 3, etc.  Just to narrow down what's being affected by it.

They've never been officially supported, but I've never had any issues with them until the last update (which also started putting anything in the "Extras" folder into the "Specials" folder automatically when imported to Emby, so there might be a connection there)

I am still confused as the last update was 6 weeks ago for 4.4.2.0.  So you are saying this happened with that update?  But I can almost guarentee this has never been tested.

I can only guess that is when it started happening, as I've never seen this before, and I don't know what other change could cause it to start happening.

That is why it is confusing for a new post to say a 6 week old update broke something.  I will attempt to test but don't really know if it will go anywhere as they are currently not supported.  As mentioned in other topics just because it unofficially works now does not mean it will always works.

Yea, i guess it's just not that common for an extra to have a numeral in it, so I didn't come across it until now.

Here's a show added back in February that doesn't have the issue:

Even though it has extras with numerals in the title:

All I can say is look at what information is in the nfo file.  As I would have to just make stuff up to even test this.

But am guessing the media is getting mis-identified and added.

So for "Home Movies", I changed the following file names:

"Deleted Scene_Season 3 Episode 1" became "Deleted Scene_Season 3 Episode One"

"Moby Dick_A Whale's Tale in 2 Minutes" became "Moby Dick_A Whale's Tale in Two Minutes"

And that seems to have fixed the issue for both of those episodes.  It's definitely having a numeral in the title that is causing the issue.

Also putting them in the "Specials" folder and giving them a special episode number, example S00E100, also works.  However, is there a setting to stop that episode number from showing up in the title?

Or is the only way to adjust it in each files metadata?

Only way is metadata as the filename is the imported title for items with no real/provider metadata.

I found the first time files affected a show i the second season.

5ecd392360551_ScreenShot20200526at113215

Even though the show is set to "Aired Order', I think unassigned files are automatically going to "Absolute order" because that would the be 15th episode of the series.

@Luke Do you know if this issue was resolved in the latest update?

Not exactly. The problem is that what you're doing isn't officially supported at this time, although it is a possibility.
