I have now tried everything to get emby working but I cant. I cant even log into my server now.

I cannot reset the server password as it gives me links but i cant access those either. I just cant get in. I cant use the emby pin, nothing. How do I remove all and also remove any server info as well as log in information.

I'm sure that there are many here that would try to help you through your issues, but more information would be needed.

Uninstalling the application should remove everything.  How you go about that would depend on what type of system you installed it on, and whether or not you used a portable build.

I'm on windows 10. Each time I try and start from beginning with clean install, it remembers my server name. I just want to start from scratch.

What do you mean by your "server name", other than the name of the computer you're installing on, which naturally stays the same?

Pic 1: I can't sign in here as my password or username is incorrect. Pic 2 : I can't reset it as it tells me to go to this link... I go there, copy it and type it into web. It says page not found. Around and around in circles I go. f7c9421587ffafe27596bcb1bcc932bc.jpge732c33fb96a6ee2b5b21e870079bf3d.jpg

That's because it's not a web page. It's a file on your computer.

not in a browser. Navigate in explorer on the computer on which your server is installed

So you need to set windows file explorer to show ALL files - un-hide everything. Then do a search for "Emby*" or "Emby-Server" and delete those folders.

You may need to grant yourself permissions to be able to delete these folders.

Once you have done that you should be able to do a clean install. Let Emby do it's process to install and you can do the basic setup through the web UI.

When that is complete, I would shut down the server and then move the entire folder "Emby-Server" to a different location. I put mine in the root of my D:

drive.

So you are saying you can not open this link to enter the pin from the txt file, correct?

Correct.

And I found the file that @@Spaceboy said to find. I opened it and changed the password. Still cant log in. Still saying incorrect Username or password.

Since this is a portable install you would just go to C:\Users\Wendy\Downloads and delete Emby-Server-win-x64-4.4.2 folder and start over.

Right. I deleted everything Emby and restarted. I've got it running except that I do not have a server listed. It's just blank where machine name would be.

Did you relink your Connect username on the new server?  Otherwise you have to manually add your server info on app.emby.media.

Please remind me how as I'm now second guessing everything I do.

Edit your user in user management. Remove the emby connect info, then click save. then add it back and click save again. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Ffs. I Uninstalled Kaspersky and McAfee. Problem solved. I had Emby permission set in McAfee so I ssume it is a setting in Kaspersky that's had me pulling my hair out all this time.

Thank you all for your patience with me [emoji4]

Glad you got it figured out.

In general, I'm no longer a fan of any 3rd party AV, much less running two at the same time.  It's also possible that they were just interfering with each other.

IMHO, Windows' security model has gotten "good enough" to run without extra software.

I agree. With reasonable precautions when surfing the web or opening email it is actually more than enough.

I have added an additional layer of protection but it is mostly for keeping my browsing anonymous as I do not really like most of the specialized browsers like TOR. I use Express VPN on my router. Express VPN is a bit more expensive than other VPNs but I researched and tested several and my final choice was Express VPN. It just works and works well for me.

But I do not really need that VPN to protect from viruses mainly because VPNs do not protect from viruses.

Windows Defender with just reasonable settings and a good VPN and you are about as safe as you can be from most internet threats either viral or otherwise.
