TE5LA 0 Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Sorry if this isn't the proper forum. Just started using Emby, long time Plex user. My music section is really messed up. Here are some issues: If I filter for "Artists", some artists appear more than once and I can't remove the extras. When I open albums, the tracks have the wrong artist associated with them, ie: "3 Doors Down" will be on tracks by "Nightwish". I can't change the metadata to correct this as they will just revert back to the wrong artists. I have checked the mp3 tags and they are correct. Wrong albums are listed under artists. Wrong albums are listed under "appears on" Here is an example screen shot: I know 38 Special was good, but I somehow don't believe they were associated with all these other artists. Perhaps some of my settings are off? Advise how I might correct this. Thanks.
TE5LA 0 Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) This is very crazy. My album of Adele's 19 lists "Nightwish" as the artist and when you go to the track selection, it lists "3 Doors Down" as the artist. This kind of thing occurs in many places. These entries cannot be deleted by any means I can find. I have even deleted the album from my library and placed it back and did a scan and it always comes back the same. I have also noticed that when I look at the Metadata section under the External Ids, where the entries are for: MusicBrainz Album Id: MusicBrainz Album Artist Id: that both entries have no sort of ID, but instead contain the text: usicBrainz Album Id usicBrainz Album Artist Id And they are exactly like this, missing the M. This is the case for every single Metadata entry. Edited May 17, 2020 by TE5LA
EZEd 60 Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 I agree, devs have done something recently to screw music up. I have been battling a screwed up music library for at least 2 months now with no resolution. Ive completely rebuilt my entire emby install twice in that span, turned off all music scrapers and rescrubbed all music metadata on all music files. Still no joy. Turning off the scrapers fixed the multiple artist problem. Your problem of all new music being assigned the same artist is one I briefly experienced. The only fix I found was to manually get rid of all metadata except artist, albumartist, album, title, year, genre and track for each file. The only tool that I found could do it was mp3tag using the extended tags viewer. But even with doing that I still have at least one artist and associated music files that cannot be recognized by emby server. Ive tried renaming files, removing the entire artist folder and everything else under the sun. Nothing works. What I noticed is that emby keeps writing over the album.nfo file to null out the tracks. I tried turning save nfo files off. That didn't help either. Every other music player that I have recognizes and plays these files ... including that P word one. But emby just cant do it. Good luck to you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
icthusman1 23 Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 (edited) Well this is awesome. The forum won't let me post! I wrote a reply with screenshots about how this has been bad for years and can't post it. edit: It must not like what I had to say. Which had nothing bad in it Edited May 18, 2020 by icthusman1
icthusman1 23 Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 (edited) This is not new. I have been battling this for years. I went looking for an album today and couldn't find it. Finally I found it associated with a different artist. I manually fixed it but I get some tracks showing the wrong artist still. I fixed those and locked them. Then refreshed metadata. The locked tracks were wrong again! @@Luke it would be awesome to get some explanation as to this behavior. To lay it out a bit differently, here is what I did today. 1. Searched for album A Through Crushed My Mind by Blindside. Unable to locate it 2. Found it under a different band Ninety Pound Wuss. 3. Used the Identify feature. Found the album in the search and selected to update the metadata with it. 4. Band is now correct but certain songs are still showing the other band. 5. Edited those tracks and put in the Musicbrainz info and manually removed Artist and Album Artist info replacing it with the correct info. Locked tracks 6. They show correctly. 7. Refresh Metadata Locked tracks are overwritten with bad data again I have used Musicbrainz Picard to update the metadata on these in the past and Emby is still pulling bad metadata from somewhere. I don't know where or why. edit: removed screenshots so I could post Edited May 18, 2020 by icthusman1
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 I have used Musicbrainz Picard to update the metadata on these in the past and Emby is still pulling bad metadata from somewhere. I don't know where or why. In my experience the answer is Musicbrianz Picard. The absolute crap that put into my tags boggled my brain. Good first tool to use but cleanup in MP3Tag was absolutely required.

I am deleting the extended tags which have crap in them and retagging from MusicBrainz then rescanning in Emby. Thanks!
